After confirming that your internet service is not down, perform the following steps:

Open your command line prompt box on your computer by typing in cmd in the box that is labeled search or run.

From that black prompt box that comes up, type ipconfig/release and then hit enter.

Then type ipconfig/renew.

If that does not work, unplug the USB leading to the router from your modem, then unplug power from the modem, then unplug power from the router.
Wait at least five minutes before doing anything more.

Reconnect power to the modem and wait for a connected status...this may take a few minutes.

Then plug the USB cable from the wireless router back into the modem. Then reconnect the power back to the router. Wait for connection status.

Once connected, you can configure the router over your computer by typing the IP address 192.168.0.1 and hit enter.
This will bring you to an extensive user menu for your router. Navigate the pages until you locate the selection for a firmware update. This may not pertain to your problem you had but in any case may likely make your router operate better.

My router is not accepting my username and

If your router is not accepting the username and password that you changed or the default information then your best bet is to press the reset button on the back of the router for 5-10 seconds. This will clear all the settings back to the manufacture default settings but will allow you to sign back into it and complete the setup again.

Had a different router everything was working

I suspect that you have port forwarding rule (virtual server) on port 443 (https) on your router. Try to remove rule or just reset router to factory settings. I have the same router and this problem did not happen. You can also install Router Commander program to boost up router performance.

How to secure a d-link wbr1310 wireless router

Hi,

Setting up security on a WiFi router is quite simple and straightforward.

All you need to do is login to the router and set up a Network Name (SSID) which will be used to identify the network and then add a passoword to secure the Network.

Once done, any device that connects to the WiFi Network will need to authenticate with the password that has been specified on the Router. This will prevent unauthorized access to your home wireless network.

To configure the unit on the label there is an IP address and a login name and password that will permit you to open the door.
If the password has been changed there is a reset button somewhere on the backside resessed in accessable with a ballpoint pen.
The CD just makes this process supposedly easier.

There may be firmware updates fir the unit
