Galaxy Radios DX-44V 40-Channels Base CB Radio Questions & Answers
Galaxy 44v has no modulation
If its a used radio it could be a number of reasons. If its a new radio it could be half those reasons.. Assuming its a new radio you need to remove the bottom cover and with a copy of the service manual you need to adjust the modulation .
I have a galaxy 44v that recieves keys up but know
- The Galaxy 44 has 1 final and 1 voltage regulator not "finals." I doubt it is putting nothing out although it may look like it on a watt meter. Check VR16 (low power adjustment for the amp) and VR 13 (High power adjustment) for the amp in the radio. That radio has a variable power so make sure the pots were not turned out of whack. Check VR 14 as well. this is your AMC modulation pot adjustment.
- Test the driver as well as the pre-driver. Check your microphone to make sure the wiring is good and the PTT is functioning.
- If you have any comments please feel free to leave them here.
- Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

I have a galaxy DX 44 that on the AM side after it been on for like 10mins the AM side goes out but the FM side don't
you probably have a thermal problem.Get some mr.freeze and try it again .when the radio goes out spray some Mr.Freeze onto the final area.Just a dash will do,don't want to freeze the parts just want to cool the down quick to see if the radio comes back on. If it does go to the final when it goes back out and spray a little on it .If it comes on then change the final and problem almost solved. Now wait to see if it goes out again , If it does then you have to get a block diagram to work from and spray some Mr.Freeze on the main IC while you're at it. If it comes on then it should be changed .Now that everything is new it had better be working but if not start spraying other componants until the radio comes on and stays on .
How to set swr for galaxy dx44
the same way you set it for any other radio. Your antenna should have an adjustment tip on it , but that's still not a problem . Get an external SWR meter and put it inline with your radio the the meter.Put you radio on channel 40 and the meter on set and key the mic. you should set the needle on the set reading. Now put the meter in the opposite setting and key the mic. Write this number down on paper.Put you radio on channel 1 and do the same thing ,write this number down. Now out the radio on 19 and do the same thing. If your reading on 40 is higher than on 1 your antenna is long and you must shorten it. If it is higher on 1 than on 40 you must shorten it.After each time you do this you should write down the numbers to see how close to 1.5 you are getting. Anything under a 2.0 is good but a 1.5 is what you want. Now you could be lazy like me and just get a matchbox that will do it for you but then you are loosing power to the radio. A 1.5 reading with the box is a 20% loss in power compared to normal output without it.
Dx44v frequency chart
first , Is this a new radio ? If it is then send it back to Galaxy .Its under warrenty for 3 yrs.Second if its not then make sure you are on the cb band . it should automatically display the frequencies.
Transmitting
you will have to get a tvi filter and use it on your cb or just don't listen to the am while talking on the cb
Galaxy dx-44v wont power on
check near the rear of the radio.. around the power input connection and the audio transformer there should be a 1n4001 diode.. check it for a short. replace it if it is.. and it should power up.. also in the same area check for any shorted traces.. on the circuit side.. also on the sides of rci main board radios near the bracket screws theres a transistor voltage regulator.. make sure its connected to the board.. sometimes they come loose.
No info for bigstickIII 376gb
The old ex army type shakespear 376gb "shakey big stick" can cover more than 11meter band...well worthy of putting up but I would add some ground planes.
What band position do i need to talk on cb
Here's a handy, printable
frequency chart for this radio. Band "E" contains the Citizen's Band Frequencies. "Band E" in "AM mode" is the only legal settings to transmit this radio in the USA.
Important: Several other "settings" may also give the FCC to inquire about your operation if caught. Additionally, this radio is an "Export" model - meaning not intended for sale in the USA. The extra frequencies, FM mode and some other features along with the 8 watt transmit power ability; all contribute to a radio that is not permitted to be sold or used on these frequencies in the USA.
I hope this was helpful & good luck!
