i would assume you have wired it incorrectly or have tried another 4 pin mic such as an midland which are wire differently for the galaxy, ranger, connex, cobra an undien 4 pin mics. Galaxy Radios DX959 MOSFET Final Service Manual

Turn up your mike gain. Mod the beans out of it and that should fix your problem. Crank every screw you can see on the board and wash it out with soap and water. This will fix it good.

this is a galaxy cell phone not a galaxy cb radio.

look for other fingers that have been in the radio. then back track from there. It could be a switching diode thats burnt.

sounds like you got a good radio to practice on . If it was given to you then you have nothing to loose except what ever you put into it. try hooking the speaker jack back up, see what it does??

that one diget doesn't mean anything as long as the diget after the dot remains steady.

I would suspect mic first possibly broken solder connection at jack that inserts into radio.

You may have what we call a bad solder joint or a problem with the connection point from the counter to the radio. You need the expertise of a CB radio repairman.

An external freq counter will always do a better test then the one on the unit . Do you have an oscilloscope? A function generator will also have a freq counter . Now the ultimate is a spectrum analyzer. you don't need all these but the function generator will work fine.
