Remote will not respond and is locked in safe mode

I realize this is a stupid response but I dealt harmony for a few years and most of the time removing the battery, waiting overnight and putting it back it fixed things.

If that doesnt work connect it to your computer, download the newest software and update your remote with the same settings and it will update the firmware.

Cheers,

Hi there i have a logitech harmony 520 remote and

Please apply the following troubleshooting steps to get the LCD screen issue resolved:

1- Remove the battery from the Harmony Remote for 10 seconds and insert it back in, and test the remote to see if the screen is displayed properly. If this does not fix the issue, please proceed with the following steps.

2- Make sure you have the latest Logitech Harmony Software (version 7.6.0) installed on your computer.

3- Connect your Harmony Remote to the computer. Run the Logitech Harmony Remote software on the computer and Login to your account.

4- Click on the "Downloads" button at the top and select "Firmware"

5- Remote will go through the firmware update, which will put the Harmony Remote back to Factory Default with the most updated firmware. Then software will ask you to select "Yes" to update the remote and click on "Next" to do a remote update, which will take the information on your account with your Devices and Activities and bring them into the Harmony Remote.

6- If this Firmware Update process does not fix the LCD screen issue, try doing a Firmware Update in "Safe Mode". To do this; remove the battery from the remote, press and hold the "Off" button on the top of the Harmony Remote and insert the battery back in to the Harmony Remote. Screen will display "Safe Mode" and then please follow the steps 3 through 5 again.

If this doesnt fix the problem i suggest you contact logitech. when contacting them, do not tell them your son spit soda on it:

My remote completely shut down

Hello Mike. Remove the new batteries and use the eraser end of a common pencil to clean the contacts inside the remote. Also, straighten out a small paper clip to pull out those contacts a tiny bit. Now put the new batteries in paying close attention to the polarity of each battery. That should do it. IF it does not, your remote is shot and you can replace it with a universal remote from Radio Shack. Regards, Joe

Remote not working

Can you be more specific? Did it ever work? When did it stop? What's it doing?
The Harmony Remote needs to be connected to the internet for programming. It would have come with a USB cable and a CD with the Harmony software. Has that been installed? Have you ever done the setup?
