The disk might not have a working OS on it.
It you have successfully run the disk utility the disk probably in full working order. I think that the OS on the disk is either missing, corrupt or not compatible with the computer you are running it on.
Apple stopped supporting OS X 10.5. Upgrades are only $20 to 10.7.
If your Mac has 10.5, Lion, 10.7, is probably as high as you can upgrade. I would check either eBay or Amazon, as I've seen Lion disk sets selling for less than $5, then $4.95 shipping (or less on eBay).
All the best to you,

The issues are related to the drivers and the network security .. you need to install a proper security and setup the network properly for sharing purpose.

Did you check hard drive space? You drive may be running out of much needed free spaces. You can check by About This Mac through Apple Logo. Also I would recommend to run Disk Utility Verify/Repair disk in order to fix any error on the drive. You should download Stellar Speedup Mac software to clean & optimise Mac hard drive for free. You can remove plenty of junk data from the startup drive. You can download from here - Stellar SpeedUp Mac
Try to keep at least 25% of hard drive free for OS X operations.

Can get 10.6 from apple or ebay or amazon or maybe someone on craigslist.
