are you using refill cartridge, replace the problem cartridge and check for the results, if you are still getting the message then the issue is with the printer hardware, contact the manufacturer for options.

Take the paper out and inspect the slot that it fits in. There is a lever switch there. If it is broken or stuck you have found the problem. Broken switches mean that you need to replace the whole printer.
