Dyson vacum shot off

Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial. Most Dyson vacuums have a built in safety system that stops the machine if it begins to overheat. This usually happens because the filter needs washing or your machine is blocked. If your machine turns off on its own, unplug it and leave it for at least an hour to cool down. Remember to check the filter and look for blockages before re-starting. You can purchase a wide variety of high quality Dyson replacement parts for your Dyson vacuum direct from Think Crucial with free shipping and an exclusive 10% coupon for Fixya.com readers, use code: FIXYA10 https://www.thinkcrucial.com/search?type=product&q=dyson I hope this was helpful. Change a fuse on a dyson dc08

Hi Tylla, it's Jack at Dyson. DC08 includes a standard 13 amp fuse in it's plug, and this can be easily changed. With the vacuum turned off and unplugged, a small flat-bladed screwdriver can be used to remove the fuse cover and fuse. There are no other fuses within the machine, so if your vacuum shut off while you were using it, it may have overheated. Most Dyson vacuums include a thermostat which will shut the vacuum off for protection if it begins to overheat. This can often be due to a blockage, or because the filter is overdue for a wash. The machine will reset automatically after it's cooled down for 1-2 hours, but washing the filter and checking for blockages will help prevent this from reoccurring. If your machine has shut off and replacing the fuse in the plug doesn't help, I would encourage you to give our freephone UK Helpline a call on 0800 298 0298 for some advice from our experts. We're available from 8am-8pm from Monday to Friday, and 8am-6pm on weekends. Calls are free from UK landlines.

My vacuum was making a funny noise and had a bad smell

Hi John, it's Jack at Dyson. Most Dyson vacuums include a thermal cutout which shuts the machine down for protection if it starts to overhead. You should find it will run again after it's cooled down for around 2 hours. This is likely to have been caused by a blockage, or because the filter is overdue for a wash. To prevent this from happening again, please follow the steps shown in our Support guide: http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc08/dc08-standard/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-won-t-switch-on-or-cuts-out/my-machine-cut-out-whilst-i-was-using-it/how-to-wash-filters/check-the-floor-tool In normal use, the filter needs to be washed at least once every 3-6 months, as shown in the video attached. Use cold water without detergent, and allow at least 12 hours for both sections of the filter to dry completely before replacing it. If you'd like some further help from our experts after you've given both of these steps a try, please call the Dyson customer Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 01-475-7109 (IE).

Noise

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson. I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty with your Dyson vacuum. From your description, it sounds like the model number you've supplied may not be correct, as DC08 is a cylinder vacuum which doesn't use a belt-driven brush bar. So we can confirm exactly which model you own and take you through some quick diagnostic checks, I'd encourage you to contact us directly. You can reach our experts by calling 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US). We'll look forward to hearing from you. Dust goes to filter

is the canister sealing properly? The air enters the canister under high pressure and it should slow down greatly in there so the heavier (dust) particles will fall to the bottom of the canister and the air should then pass through the filter under a reduced pressure. If the air is easily escaping the canister area without slowing down the dust cannot settle. It should look like a cyclone in the canister, if it's not swirling in one direction but rather bouncing around, look at the inlet to the canister for build up or an obstruction also. If the canister is not sealing the the air will remain moving rapidly and carry the dust along with it. I would also check your filter for a tare along the seam.

Turbine head of my Dyson DC08 does not spin

This response is likely too late coming, however for others the problen appears to be the same as the fault with my turbine head which was that the turbine fan had become loose on its spindle. With no pressure on the brushes, friction would allow the fan to turn and drive the brushes via the belt. The faulty part is not available separately however I have repaired mine using araldite glue. Other things to check is for a worn belt. Cheers.

Head of dc08 not working

please take a moment to comment of give it a thumbs up.a8a35fa.jpgI work as a technition for vacuumspot.com.au & nelsonvacuums.com.au fixing vacuum cleaners. It is a common problem for turbine or turbo heads to slow down or stop altogether. I'll show you how to look after them and avoid costly replacement. 1b9030c.jpgStart by turning the head over. I have marked the 3 points you need to undo to take off the base plate. Simply twist the 2 knobs and slide other catch in the centre of the head. The base plate should now lift off quite easily.526fc77.jpgHave a good look in the spot where I have marked it is very common for dirt and fluff to stick to the sides of the rubber part in the middle. This can reduce the suction at the head and reduse cleaning effiency.d1529e5.jpgNow you have to pull the brushes out to the sides, they should come off easily. Clean really well around the shaft pay particular attention to any hair wound around the small gap marked. Anything caught here gradually works it's way to the bearing which sits just inside the housing here. If the bearing gets worn you have to replace the entire head as there are no spare parts for this tool. :(DO NOT try and put a lubricant on the shaft, it will work for a short time but in the longer term it will only attract dust to the bearing.5bca644.jpgThis part is easy, just tap out the the dirt from inside the brushes. If you have another vacuum handy this will work well too. An air compressor will do the best job but make sure you direct it away from yourself.0459edd.jpgGive the base plate a basic clean, there is normally not a lot of stuff here but if you get dirt caught around the edges it can affect haw well the plate seals to the rest of the head. One thing to take particular not of is the rubber seal that goes around the edge. It often gets dislodged, just poke it back in or if you have gasket adhesive put a small amount in the groove to hold it in place.673d8b1.jpgNow check the filter on the side. You only have to give it a wipe with your finger or a dry cloth to keep it clean. There you have it all done. Simply pop the brushes back on making sure you put them on the side they came off. There is a little arrow marked on the brushes and centre of the head if you forget. Then put the baseplate back on and fix the catches back in place. If you do this every month or two your turbine head will spin at max speed all the time and last longer too!.Hope this helped you and feel free to leave a comment, I love feedback .
