Sony Mavica MVC-FD75 Digital Camera Questions & Answers
Sony MVC-FD75 Camera won't accept floppy disk
It sounds as if the eject mechanism didn't quite do it's job last time it was used. It could be stuck half way between in and out. Try closing the camera and with a fully charged battery keep pushing the eject button and see if it clears the problem.
You can imagine that after all those years dust and gunk has built up inside. It's just a bloody shame they can't build cameras today to last that long.
At the worst all you'd have to do is pull the back off and have a good look at the drive mechanism. Or pick one up for $10 on Ebay and swap the drives over.
HOW DO I TURN ON THE DATE/TIME STAMP ON MVC-FD75
I'm looking at our FD90 as I'm typing - it should be very similar to
your FD75. Use the menu button to move the cursor left on the
bottom of the display until "EFFECT" is highlighted. push the
center of the menu button to select EFFECT & then push up
to select DATE / TIME.push the button right to highlight "OFF"
then push up to highlight DAY / TIME. push in the center to
select and keep the day and time "effect" in your pictures.
Sony Mavica FD75 shows NO DISK when disk has been inserted
The floppy driver has an internal switch that detects when the floppy disk is protected or not.
It is likely such switch is damaged.
It is necessary to open the camera and the floppy drive to fix it.
If you have experience and skills in fixing electronic devices, or want to try it, then you can try its repair.
The alternative is to pay to have repaired, but is more likely that the quote you will receive is to replace the whole floppy drive, which costs around $40.00 plus the repair labor.
Regards,
"no disc" message but there is disc in camera - huh?!
HI, I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. I PURCHASED A BOX OF 30 DISCS THAT WERE FORMATED. I FOUND THAT 12 WOULD GET THE "NO DISC" MESSAGE. SO I WENT AND FORMATED THEM MYSELF ON MY COMPUTER, AND NOW ONLY 2 ARE NOT WORKING. I HAVE TWO OF THESE CAMARAS AND FOUND THAT ON BOTH THE "NO DISC" MESSAGE WOULD COME UP, SO FOR ME I KNOW BOTH OF MY CAMARAS ARE ALRIGHT, THAT IT IS SOMETHING WITH THE DISC.
I have a great Mavica
You probably need a new Sony "Infolithium" battery, by now. The battery lasts a long time
but 10 yrs IS a long time! If you've never repl
aced the battery, it's time to. They charge ok
but don't last very long when they're near the
end of their life! (Sounds like what you're
describing.) The little disc battery only works
the memory for the Date / time / etc.
How to shut off disk protect
The write protection is on the floppy diskette itself. Make sure the little sliding latch is covering the hole on the right side of the diskette. If you see through two holes on the diskette it is on write protect.
Disk error
This is a common Mavica problem - you'll have to have the disk drive replaced.
