Recovery disk does not recognize
I don't know what you mean by recognizing ..but i suppose it does not start the recovery process..and this may have a few causes..The first thing to check is if the disk is having an operation system on it or it is just the drivers and factory programs recovery ..In this case you need a boot-able disk with the operation system on it ..and use the recovery disk after installing the system first .Another thing may be just a boot issue ..If your computer does not have the boot from cd enabled ..this may be an issue ..so my advice is to press f2 on stat and go to BIOS settings ..and look for boot sequence and select the cd /dvd drive as first boot device ..and hard disk the second..and save the changes by pressing F10 ..and restart ..This will make the disk to boot like it should if it has the correct information on it ..It will ask to press any key for confirmation of the disk boot ...and go with the installing .there is a 3rd possibility in which you have to load the ahci driver for the system first ..cause the recovery disk loads the files but do not see a boot disk ..cause the hard disk by default is set to work on the ahci function of the sata bus..and if you do not load a 3rd party driver for the ahci ..it does not see the hdd..In this case load the driver from a floppy or from a usb ..and go on with the process or just go to bios ..and look for the ahci feature in the advanced settings or in teh devices..and disable it and let it run sata as ide or ide compatible ..save settings with F10 and restart ..It will never ask for driver again and will load the recovery if the disk is functional .i hope this will help ..cause I covered almost all possibilities but a faulty disk in which case you just have to get a boot-able disk with the operation system you use and reinstall it clean ..and run the drivers after doing it ..and install all programs needed manually .Please rate my answer if it helps ..and thank you for using our site !..have a nice day !

Hi, I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro M15-S405 with a flickering screen. Is it possible to replace the video card on this model?
It may be nothing wrong but the message on start is indicates the lack of video driver for it ..I suggest to download the latest driver from the manufacturer's site ..and be sure it is for your model and operation system in use..run the driver and will ask for restart ..after that will work fine ..It may need to make manually adjustments for the resolution you need.Make them directly from the video card settings ..(on the task bar tray )
http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/modelContent.jsp?ct=DL&os=&category=&moid=380609&rpn=PS630U&modelFilter=M15-S405&selCategory=2756709&selFamily=1073768667These are all drives for your model under the windows xp ..(being a old model it has no drivers for windows 7 ..If you are running windows 7 you can install the windows xp driver but it will give you an error unless you open the driver's folder and look for teh executable (installer ) ..and click right on it ..choose properties..and under the compatibility ..select to run in compatibility with windows xp ..,than apply and OK .Run it again ..and will also give you the error ..but will offer to run it in compatibility mode..choose it and install ..After restart just click right on desktop choose change resolution ..and select a larger one ..pay attention that not all will fit on your monitor .usually for the 15 inch monitor try 1024 /768 ..If you use windows xp ..just run the driver and it will fix the issue .

When putting WEP key wireless cannot connect
Check that you are correctly entering the WEP key, and that you have been told the correct value for the WEP key.
Or, reconfigure the router, to define:
* an SSID
* an encryption-level (use 'WPA' or 'WPA2')
* a password
Then, use the SSID/password to connect to the router.

I have a SD card port on the side of my Toshiba
This doesn't sound like a factory loaded hard drive - if you've loaded the SD card driver and get this found new hardware message, you need to tell it to look for the drivers in the folder Windows
\ Driver Cache. That'll do it.

How do I reset password as when I turn it on it
Im assuming it is a bios password you are talking about. The easiest way is to pull the main battery, then you have to find the CMOS battery which is usually hidden under a panel. Try removing any panels on the bottom of the computer to see if you can find the battery. If you do, unplug it for 10 seconds. Then put it back in and you should be fine.

I need to reinstall the
- Insert the Windows XP CD-ROM into the CD drive, and then restart the computer.
- Click to select any options that are required to start the computer from the CD drive if you are prompted.
- When the "Welcome to Setup" screen appears, press R to start the Recovery Console.
- Press 1 (One) to select windows XP and then hit enter.
- When you are prompted, type the Administrator password. If the administrator password is blank, just press ENTER.
- At the command prompt, Type Bootrec /RebuildBcd and then press ENTER.
- If the Bootrec.exe tool runs successfully, it presents you with an installation path of a Windows directory. To add the entry to the BCD store, type yes. A confirmation message appears that indicates the entry was added successfully.
- If the Bootrec.exe tool cannot locate any missing Windows installations, you must remove the BCD store, and then you must re-create it. To do this, type the following commands in the order in which they are presented. Press ENTER after each command.
Bcdedit /export C:\BCD_Backup
ren c:\boot\bcd bcd.old
Bootrec /rebuildbcd
- Restart the computer

My mom's Toshiba L455D laptop
First, you need to make sure your power adapter is providing enough
power to both run the laptop & charge the battery. A very good way
to do this is to compare your laptop voltage & ampere requirements
(written on a sticker on the bottom of the laptop) with the voltage
& ampere ratings of the power adapter. Voltages should be the same,
or the power adapter's voltage about up to 0.5 volts more than the
laptop's voltage rating. Amperage of the power adapter should be at
least equal to or greater than the laptop's rating. It should never be
less than the laptop's rating, or else the power adapter will be
providing insufficient amperes to charge the battery. Of course, the
power adapter's nominal amperage might be ok, but it degraded on usage.
You can verify this by testing using a good or new power adapter.
If
the battery did not charge using the new power adapter, take the battery
off the laptop, & using a dry tooth brush, scrub in between the
fins of the battery connector on the motherboard & on the battery it
self, then put the battery back into the laptop & try again.
If
this still did not resolve the problem, then the battery itself could be
bad. Try it on another laptop, or try a good or new battery in your
laptop.
If this did not work, there might be a possibility that the
charging circuitry on the laptop's motherboard is defective & needs
servicing. In order to do this, the laptop needs to be disassembled
& the motherboard checked for defective/burned out components in the
area near the DC jack. Any defective/burned out components found should
be replaced, or you might need to replace the laptop's motherboard
altogether.

Touchpad is not working and does not show up in
You need to reinstall the Synaptics driver from Toshiba. If you do not have the Toshiba driver CD for your laptop you can try the generic ones from :
http://www.synaptics.com/support/drivers
The touch pad may also be disabled in the system bios, (ie the options before you boot through to windows) Re enable it there if you are sure it is not a driver problem.
If still no joy, your local Toshiba agent can advise free on rectification, but you have to take the notebook in to them.
Hope this helps.
