I have audio but no video, after 5 minutes the
if its an LCD or plasma tv, it sounds like an invertor problem. (the invertors run the backlights to light up the screen). I would advise getting this repaired sooner rather than later, because if the invertor fails completely, it may damage the backlights and render the TV useless. if it is a CRT (tube) TV, then its possibly a bad solder joint near the HT area of the main board.

We have a SONY kd-34XBR960 I turned it off and
Turning your tv off did not cause this issue, so don't blame yourself for that. A 6 or 7 blink shutdown is because one of the two switch mode power supply control ic's have failed. the part number on them is mcz3001. They are located on the "D" baord, i don't recommend replacing this yourself because even with a tv unplugged from the wall high voltages still exist in the set.
A repairman may preform one of the two following things, he may change the whole D board or he may replace the individual components. The repair will cost around $200 if they replace the components, and if they replace the board it will cost more.

My Sony KD-34XBR960 has no picture when power button is pressed.
This is often caused by a faulty transistor, they breakdown over a period of time and can continue to work by shcok treatment ( like unplugging etc) but eventually collapse. The srvice center for your Sony may repair it or replace the whole board to the video section. Its a Bravia so expect a pretty expensive callout, somewhat cheaper to take it to a technician in this case

Dead,has 3-blinks
I just had repair person out for this same issue on my 960. Three blinks indicates overvoltage from power supply. Two transisters have gone bad in the power regulation circuitry. Since it is such a common prioblem these parts are on back order from Sony for at least 10 days. Price of repair including in home service = $318.

It gives an excellent reception but only for a while
There is a problem with the tuner section. I would first suspect poor solder connections. If resoldering the ground connections on the tuner fails to resolve the problem, a replacement can be purchased for $38.40 using part number: 8-598-594-30

Sony FD Trinitron KD-34XBR960 34" TV
Our set turns itself off by itself. Prior to this happening, it goes to a green screen. It usually happens after the set has been on for a couple of hours. We bought the set in April, 2004 and the warrantly has now expired. The longer we keep the set on, the more it turns itself off. Is this a tuner, on/off problem or the tube? Any estimates for repair?

Occasional poor reception, no digital reception when turning on television
There is a known common problem with that model and as per Sony bulletin you need to replace L6903 with P/N 1-406-662-11 and add a small ceramic cap to location #C6931 P/N 1-115-156-11...
Any shop will understand what I've just said so take it with you when you drop the set off for repairs...
It's an inexpensive fix and well worth it.
Hope this helps.

No signal unless on twin screen
Since the PIP is working properly, I would think that the set is hooked up properly. Make sure that the main picture (the one on the left), is on the proper Antenna input, I.e. antenna A.
If the hook up is correct and all inputs are correct, then, the problem is probably the main tuner.

Connecting PS2 to an old TV
Plug the Red, Yellow, and White cords into their respective "IN" ports on the VCR. Run a coax line from the "out" port of the VCR to the coax port on TV. Some VCRs require you to tune to channel 3 or "LINE" which is typically the channel before 2 for this to work. To make things easier, you may want to purchase a modulator. This would allow you more easily set this up. The Mini-modulators aren't very expensive and can be purchased at virtually any electonics store.
