Turn on the big screen sony tv, but fades to blue
You probably have a bad BLUE CRT. Due to the cost and the length of time it would take to repair, I would not invest the money into it. It would require a Qualified Service Person to come to your home and remove the BLUE CRT assembly and send it back to SONY to be rebuilt. Estimated cost would be around 800.00. I would check prices of a replacement set.
I hope this helps,

Kp46wt500 covergence problem
Check the fuses. If a convergence amp goes out, usually one or both fuses go as well.
I'd check the power resistors in the vicinity for opens as well.
I have a Sony KP-46WT500, vintage 2003 ish TV,
It depends on whether you can do the repair yourself---it sounds like you have a bad convergence ic--this model uses two STK-392-560 convergence chips(You can buy both on Ebay for less than 15 dollars plus shipping.)
Most of the time just the two chips need to be replaced and the set adjusted with the remote.
Many shops will charge 300 or more for this kind of repair---This repair should be able to be done in your home---I have done hundreds of them---shop around and see if you can find someone who will do it in your home--if they say it has to go to shop keep looking. I do this kind of repair here for 200-250 depending on the set--I doubt you could replace this set for 200 but it is a economic decision.

I do this here for free so if this has helped you take a moment to give me a vote here.

EVERYTHING IN WRITING IS DOUBLE AND THE PICTURE IS DISTORTED
Hello Tim this is a very common problem with the projection tv set, the problem is coming from the convergence board with faulty ICs that have to replaced in order for your tv set picture to work properly, they do sell convergence repair kits for your tv set but i would not recommend this the reason being is that if you make a mistake while changing out a component your whole tv set is gone not going to work anymore so for this i would recommend for you to call a near by tv repair shop and have a tech come out and change this ICs for you, after you change this ICs from the convergence board your tv set should go back to working normal on the link below you can check out how a convergence board looks like thank you hope this helps.

There is a discoloration on
This is most likely because you have an unguarded speaker too close to the T.V. If you have a speaker close to the television, try moving it around a little to see if the discoloration goes away. If that doesn't work, you can try moving a large magnet around the edge of the screen to move the CRT guns back into place. Best of luck.
The picture looks like it has a curve to it and
Hi,
The curve is because the vertical adjustment is not on place. Most probably the soldering will be loose at that one. If you can open the monitor it is just doing a soldering at the lead points.
Thanks
I have a sony projection tv KP-46WT500 and have

Hello mrsb422,
This sounds like a convergence problem and it is a little more complex then just a lamp. You
will have to replace not only the convergence amplifiers but also the biasing resistors. This will require
de-soldering and soldering of of
components and there is a chance of damaging the circuit board is you
are not careful. So I suggest that you have a TV repair technician examine and repair this set.
I hope this helps,
Thank you,

Increase the current flow to the blue color gun. If it is not adjustable it will need replaced and this is a major repair. You can try to reduce the red and green guns and increase the output transformer for a temporary fix, but save up your pennies for a replacement. Have a tech look at it before running out for a replacement because the SONY is the better model projection televisions.
