It looks like you have a convergence or vertical problem. if the picture is showing kind of 3 d or warped, its convergence.

hello you need 2 of them also you will have test the resistor in front of the ic and capacitors near by also if you haven't used a soldering iron before you may find it difficult it's a lot of hassle. ps try youtube it may show. you good luck

Symptom shows that it is convergence out chips failure that causing misaligned images on screen. Please replace convergence out chips in tv to get converge picture.
Question shows it is Sony KP-46WT500, if it is different model let me know please.

8 times red light blinking shows problem with High Voltage section in TV.

Let me know about green and blue symptoms, does TV show high bright green then blue screen with few thin retrace lines then shuts off and red light start blinking?
Is that the problem?

Problem self righted.

It is rear projection TV that use 3 picture tubes of red-green-blue to show color picture on tv front screen.
Do you see standby red light blinking when TV shuts off after showing blue image for a while?
If red standby light is blinking, please count it how many times it blinks, there would be 3 seconds pause between blinks so count pause to pause and post it here to find out possible solution.

Convergence failure. The Sony type 1 convergence repair kit from www.tvrepairworld.com should repair that issue. The Kit contains the parts and the CD with instructions.

You need to install a convergence repair kit. The Sony type 1 convergence repair kit is the correct one for your model. The kit is available from www.tvrepairworld.com and includes the CD with instructions.

It would be great to assist you in Sony convergence issue.
As you said, for some time TV shows bad convergence in picture that shows its matter of lose/ dry solder joints in D board, specially on convergence out ICs pins that need to be re-solder.
There are 2 big black ICs mounted on aluminum heat sink on D Board of TV, below image shows D Board location in TV.
Resolder pins of these 2 ICs and also check any other dry/ cold solder joints in circuit board. I do not think of IC replacement as problem occurs some time.

Allot of people make this same mistake. Odds are you got the CHEAP china chips. Those do not work in sony TVS. Only the ORIGINAL sanyos will work. If you payed less then $20 each, they are not original. You can also go to sony.com. Get your board number and check it under parts. IF it says $65 you can get your board rebuilt by sony. Just call in to make payment and get a work order number. I send in allot of these boards. They are returned 2 day fedex express. I guess sony feels bad for selling this junk. Check you cross convergence. If you can move any of the colors, its the chips.

Go into the customer menu and select CONVERGENCE and look to see if red or blue lines are skewed and or will not adjust in some direction.

If this is what you find--you have a convergence circuit problem.

blue CRT is shorted crts are no longer available you can have them rebuilt but they never look very good you might want to retire the set

If convergence out ICs got defective then TV shows that kind of picture.
Replace IC8001 and IC8002 on D Board, both big black ICs are mounted on aluminum heat sink and number STK392-560 would be written on it.
Required ICs are available in Part Store, click that link to see an image of IC and price info.
If you are not comfortable with soldering parts in circuit board, call local tv tech to replace it.

Did you check the six 3.15 amp pico fuses on the D board in line with the resistors and the two 5 amp picos on the G board? Usually one or more of the Picos will blow especially on the G board

your blue crt is DEAD crts are not avail any longer sorry

this set is getting up in years you have a weak CRT that is shutting down the pix
sony has what is call an IK curcuit that wants to see equal outputs on the crts so youget true color any way you need crts not avail anymore sorry
