I am curious to understand what connections have you got in place with the TV. Do you actually hear the TV sound before the Stereo shuts off?

Are you convinced the problem is not on the TV end? I am assuming you have got a manual for this unit. If not you can check it out from here.

unfortunately a flashing power button indicates a shorted output ic.. anotherwords the amplifier is defective and will need to be replaced

Yes, it can play mp3 music files but these should be on a CD.

Have you tried cleaning the laser. If you are not familaiar with electronics, try using a "CD Cleaning Disk" from walmart or kmart or most anywhere!

First unplug the unit and press the power button to make sure all the power is out of the unit. Try to take a cotton qtip and clean the lazer lense with alcohol. after wipe it clean with a new cotton qtip to remove the film the alcohol produces. Do not use a lot of alcohol and drip it all inside of the unit though.
Also if you tried a cd-r try a real copy instead. Make sure your cd's are ok.

Check if you can pull out the front cover? after that you will see speaker screws!

te same thing happened to me know i juat turn the stereo off to where the red light is blinking then turn it back on after the standby message disappears and then i quickly pree the eject button......tr it! and let me know!

If it does it with all cd's, then its likely the optical coupler in the unit is tired or not functioning.
This is the most expensive component and is most likely as cheap to replace the unit
