Emerson EWF2703 27" TV - Page 7 Questions & Answers
Emerson EWT2721 will this TV support a Sony DVD recorder?
If you do not get result you can purchase one video rf converter.
Rf converter contains one videoinput in yellow colourand two audio in red and white colour and one cable connector as outout.
Connect dvd output to this converter and tune the program in whichplace you receive dvd signal.
good luck
Fuse blows when it gets plugged in
No it doesn't sound like a resistor, it sounds like you have a short in power supply, you can look for bad Diodes in bridge rectifier,or solder bridge, or transistor short, start from beginning to end. It is definately a short and most of the time resistors open and this will not cause a blow just a dead set.
Emerson color tv
The problem you describe is component failure in or arround the Horizontal Output Transformer section usually.. I would take it to the shop & get a "Quote" B4 proceeding.. there aint much ya can do yaself really without a Service manual etc.
TV Channels
SOUNDS LIKE WHAT HAPPENED TO ME WHEN THE CHANNEL GOT ACCIDENTALLY BLOCKED AS AN UNUSED CHANNEL CHECK YOUR MENU ON REMOTE FOR ADD AND REMOVE CHANNELS AND RELOAD THAT CHANNEL AS INSTRUCTS IN MANUAL FOR THE TV
Lost Remote Control
Do a google search for "emerson remotes" (in quotes) and take your pick. I have ordered them by model number from Fox International at 800-321-6993.
Remotes not working for tv
You have already diagnosed the problem, the remote receiver on the tv is bad,is rare but it happens but before you call for help try unpluging the tv from the wall for 10 minutes and then plug it back in and try it,sometimes this takes care of the problem,if that does not do it you will need the help of a servicer ,your remotes are working but the receiver is not processing the information. If you are familiar with tv service it should be easy to locate the receiver, sometimes is soldered to the chassis and sometimes is part of the push button assembly and conected to the chassis by wires,if is part of the push button is easier to replace,if you are not too familiar with tv service be safe and ask for help.
The picture is to bright
if you are a tech open the tv and turn down the brightness from off the flyback screen adjustment if that does not work then the flyback will have to be replaced.it is defected.good luck
Won't power up
If still under warranty or if you have no electronic repair experience you should take the set back to the shop or to a repair person. Some of the solutions described below can be dangerous, TV's are very hazardous to service. Even when plugged out, TV's can store very high voltages.
There are many things in the set that can fail, and cause it to not start.
The set would have to be properly troubleshooted.
If you still want to have a go at it, here are a few suggestions:
check for bad connections near the mains input, and main switch
continuity - wear and tear on the switch (and/or its soldering) may
have taken their toll.
could be a cold solder.
bad capacitors in the power supply are
likely.
Most small tv's have small glass fuses (like the older cars)
if it won't power up that is usually the problem.
If all else fails pull the power cord for a week and then try.
Good luck, Take care
Volume is not working correctly...getting lower
Is your set connected to a cable box? If so then the box itself could be causing your problem. Some of the boxes have their own volume controls.
Otherwise you could have a problem anywhere from the rf input to the audio amplifier section.
A tuned circuit could be drifting off frequency
in the tuned part of the audio circuits.
You'd need to have it checked out by a technician.
Stargazer
High-pitched noise
Most of the time it is just a coil or the high voltage transformer itself that is vibrating causing the noise. The high voltage trasformer has an iron core that goes through the center of it and there is usually a giant clip to hol it together. That clip ometimes is loose causing the vibration. Usually you can listen for the sound when the back is off (careful there is 30,000 volts present while in operation and the tube holds a charge even when off) and press on different coils near the transfomer with a long plastic tool (no metal to avoid shorting components out). When you find the one that is the most sensitive with the slightest touch you can usually apply hot glue or silicone over it (with TV off and unplugged) and let it sit for a while. Good luck and be safe.
Emerson TV EWT2721 27"
Did the TV get pink with the wavy lines all at once, or did it start out gradual? If all of a sudden, then a defective part on the CRT control board or the picture tube itself could be going bad along with some components in the video section of the set. Probably not a cheap and easy fix I'm afraid.
EWF2703 27" TV --won't turn on
A complete circuit board is available BUT would cost you more then a new set. These sets now a days are repaired down to the componet level and these sets have no user replaceable parts. If you have a capacitor checker then maybe you can find on that goes bad in these . there in the sweep supply or in the standby power supply, but if your not a trained electronic tech you should not be experimenting inside this thing. 2 to 3 years is about normal with these things. You can get one for about 100 or so if you looked around. it would probably cost you 125 or so to have a pro fix it. GGood Luck
