If the TV is set to PC input when it's turned on it will turn off after a little while when no input is detected (you should be able to tell what channel it's on in the top corner of the screen). If that isn't the case try plugging the TV straight into the wall if you have it in a power board or multiple adapter. Sometimes they won't turn on if they aren't getting enough amps and you're sharing the power with other appliances.
If that fails then unfortunately it could be the power supply. Where I work we have about 50 Samsung plasma and lcds (and I own one at home) and although they are fantastic screens they do have a common fault with the power supply.

The tv power supply board is the problems and the causes.That the board,where the power a/c cord plug in to it.Try website like Ebay.com to buy a refurbish power supply board for the replacement.

The picture tube is going out. You need a new one

sorry to tell u but u may have a bad panel , also u can try to replace the Y-sub board , this board is located on the left side of ur tv , left side when u look the tv from the back not from the front

try to check the transistors in the power supply or diode besides the regulator

This sounds like Y Sustain or Y Buffer problem
Because High voltage is involved in these circuits ( 185 Volts )
Refer it to a service tech .
But if you feel confident check the buffer ic's if hot or cold, maybe faulty

You have bad caps on the SMPS. Either replace the caps or replace the SMPS

Plasma technology produces more heat than other monitor types, as such it has less options for successful placement.

First verify that the cooling fan does in fact operate; it should turn the blades a fast pace.
Then clean any dust from ALL of the vent openings and especially any filter placed in front of the cooling fan(s). Also keep away from the TV anything obstructing air flow through the vents.

Check all the parts on the board that have the flashing light and those boards beside it.Look carefully,searches for those parts call capacitors,they have very common problems that have leakages of gases.Replaced these bulges up on tops,puff on tops capacitors, will cure ur tv problems.Or replaced the board that have the flashing light.Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a refurbish of that board for the replacement.

The television input is located at the back view of the television, this may have a cover , in which it is use to protect the input terminals.

I have got the same problem as well and havent been able to find where it is coming from

no the red strip does not light up.. it is simply cosmetic, samsungs attempt at some "flashy" plastics for their tv's..

my samsung plasma 50" tv has no picyure just sound, it is only 2 years old

On the sound pcb attached to main pcb in the seperate box are two 1uf, 50 volt surface mounted elec caps. These go leaky, and sometimes take the chip with them. You will need the right gear to do this job. £12 .00 for parts including chip.
