My e-2 vacuum runs very loud and smell like it's burning.

You may have damaged a bearing or bearing housing and that could be causing the motor armature and field to rub together which in turn causes the motor to draw a significantly increased current to overcome the friction. It could be a simple fix if it is a bearing but if it is the housing then it is likely toast. I used to repair motors years ago and the cost then was not bad. However if the motor is heat damaged, as happened to my power rack last year, it was cheaper to buy a new one than replace the motor. A burned out motor is not worth repairing these days.

Motor seemed to get hot while vacuuming

There probably is a locked up bearing. It is not a good idea to try to keep trying to run the unit. It will only cause further damage.

Rainbow turns on for a second or two then quits and won't turn back on.

If you have the model Rainbow E-2 eSERIES then the Motor Rainbow 120v could be going bad. This will trip the auto reset until it cools down. If you have an E2 Type 12 Rainbow, then the Controller Asm 120v e2 Silver Gold could be going bad. Our technical support team is available if you need... Contact Us RainVac

While vacuuming, the brush roller quit working. Nothing happens when the trigger is activated. New hepa filter and brush roller belt installed. Suction is good.

Does your power nozzle have a red power light on top? Is it light up when you squeeze the trigger? If it does, then there is a good chance that the Circuit Breaker PN2E PN2 is defective. If that is not the problem, then check the hose connection to the front of the Rainbow. Be sure that it has a solid connection. If not, then the contacts can't connect for power. Why does my plug get extremely warm or hot?

Inside the wire, several strands of wire are broke. Heat is caused by less strands of wire that have to carry more current in amps. This is a safety and fire hazard. Cut the old plug off by cutting the cord about 2 inches away from the plug. Strip the wires carefully. Do not cut or break off any strands of wire. Install a new plug. Make sure you buy a round plug that has a round opening for your round cord. A lot of plugs are for flat type of cords only.

My rainbow was working, now the rug cleaner quit.

Does your power nozzle have a red power light? Your Circuit Breaker PN2E PN2 could be defective. Also check the hose connection to the front of the Rainbow. Be sure that it has both latches secure. This can cause power nozzle to not run. You can also contact our technical support team at Contact Us RainVac

The hose on my Rainbow vaccuum smells like mildew.....how do I clean the hose out?

If it is the standard hose then you can soak in bleach water. If it is the electric hose, you can still run bleach water through it to clean out. Hook the hose up to the exhaust when finished to blow dry for about 15 minutes or so. Place the other end of the hose into the intake so all water that is blown out of hose will be sucked up back into the Rainbow. Creates a loop effect and helps dry the hose faster. Power nozzle does not work. Light comes on on power nozzle but it does not vacuum

Many early version PN-2E power nozzles have reset buttons that are becoming faulty. The factory stopped adding the rest button to this model power nozzle so you can update your unit by removing and this my solve your issue. You have the trigger to stop the motor if you have an issue so the rest button has become unnecessary.

The power nozzle is not working and the belt seems to be in place. The motor is running fine and I can use other attachments

There are a few problems with this head which we frequently encounter. One, the motor get's clogged up and the brushes get stuck in the motor. The red top circuit breaker fails, and under load, the motor will stop. Take the 2 wires off of the breaker in the power head, and short them together to find out once you have cleaned out the motor which will be a mess inside. The belt if worn will not operate the power head if you put your foot on it and see if the brush spins. The belt is a major problem as well as the replacement of the motor. The motors are 45.00 CAD and belts 4.00 Cad. The yoke on the power head also gets clogged and needs cleaned out. Try these procedures and I hope all works out for you! William R!
