Sharp AL 1631 Copier - Page 5 Questions & Answers
I have H 3 flashing
Hi,
Welcome to Fixya. H3 means there was a problem in the fuser unit of the copier - a temperature problem. The correct temperature is not reached within a certain time. It could be a thermostat or thermistor problem - both monitor temperature. you could remove the fuser unit and make sure these items are clean - no build up on them. there should be a center and side thermistor.
You can reset the device by Press Program Key(P), Asterisks, Clear Key (C), Asterisk . when the stand by for simulation code appears type 14 to cancel the trouble code.
If the error persists then you may need new thermistors.
If you have questions please let me know. Thanks for using Fixya
Code L-6?
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but an L-6 error is defined as a "Polygon Motor Lock Detection" meaning that the polygon mirror in the laser unit is not spinning. I have never seen this error caused by anything other than a bad laser unit. I would strongly recommend contacting a certified repair technician to have the machine repaired, or consider replacing the machine.
H4 ERROR CODE
press on the keypad, # * C * the machine will enter a diagnostic mode. Then enter 14 as if to make 14 copies. You may then have to press 1 and execute the program. But that will clear the H4 code 99 percent of the time. Once you enter 14, just press start and follow the directions on the screen. An H4 means the machine was just slow to warm up. It can be a fuser error, but there actually being a problem is extremely rare. Performing a clear 14 will almost always clear that.
We can not clear the paper jam error. We have
This copier has 4 sensor

A loud clicking sound
This means that a gear is jammed or broken somewhere. Check for waste full and empty or drum waste roller and unblock the jammed toner inside that unit or check fuser gear if broken then replace it.
The scanner does not move,,,just makes an odd
There is usually a mechanical 'scanner lock' on th left-hand side of the machine, probably a sliding catch. Make sure that this has not been set to 'locked'. It is possible that this catch has been engaged when the machine has been moved or accidently by hand when copying.
This catch can sometimes be located on the underside of the scanner unit - ie where the paper comes out.
Hope this helps.
We have a red light
L1 or L1-00 indicates Scanner movement failure. The scanner is the part under the glass that lights up and moves back and forth. So if you lift up the feeder so you can see the glass, turn the machine off for a few seconds then back on. Watch the movement of the scanner. It should move right and inch or two then back to the left. If all goes well the copier should come to ready. Lay a piece of paper on the glass and press the print button to watch the scanner movement. If it binds up or does not scan correctly there are 2 possibilities.
1) your scanner lock is engaged and is preventing the scanner from moving. Check the clear plastic dial located under the far left upper side of the copier, near where the paper exits the machine. Make sure it is in the unlocked position.
2) Your scanner rail is dirty and dry. This rail can be seen under the glass towards the back of the copier. The scanner rides on this rail. It is very common for these to get dirty and for the grease to dry up causing the scanner to freeze up on the rail. The glass must be removed and the rail cleaned and lubricated.
Just power off then on the copier to reset.
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya.
I had an H4 error which I cleared but all of the
Hi, H4 has nothing to do with copy output. I suggest that you check the two wires the red and white that connects the transfer charger if they are firmly connected. Also check if the transfer corona wire is intact and replace if not. Check the drum drive gear on the drive unit if its broken and replace if it is. Lastly , check the developer if its present and replace it if out.
My Sharp copier, model AL-1631,
Hi there,
The L1 error references to a scanner position error. Check the scanner cable. Make sure there's nothing loose on your unit and that all the contacts are clean and well lubricated. If it still provides the error after this point, replace the main board.
Our microwave oven wave guide cover has burn on
