We just replaced the drum and now are getting

After replacing the drum, did you reset the drum counter? Also, it is best to change out the developer at the same time you replace the drum, this is because both the drum and developer need to be calibrated with each other.

It sounds like you didn't manually reset the counter and now the charge on the drum is to high, I would suggest not using the machine until to reset the counter.

Let me know.

GETTING TWO STRAIGHT LINES ABOUT

Clean your scanner glass strip. Just lift up the automatic document feeder and look at the large glass. Next to it is a small strip of glass enclosed in a plastic frame. Clean this glass with a soft cloth and some glass cleaner. This will fix your streaks problem as this strip of glass is what is used when you make copies using the feeder. You can verify this by making a copy by laying your original on the large glass. This will probably come out clean with no lines. This will be your proof that the lines are coming from the strip glass.

Had the L 1 signal

L1 or L1-00 indicates Scanner movement failure. The scanner is the part under the glass that lights up and moves back and forth. So if you lift up the feeder so you can see the glass, turn the machine off for a few seconds then back on. Watch the movement of the scanner. It should move right and inch or two then back to the left. If all goes well the copier should come to ready. Lay a piece of paper on the glass and press the print button to watch the scanner movement. If it binds up or does not scan correctly there are 2 possibilities.
1) your scanner lock is engaged and is preventing the scanner from moving. Check the clear plastic dial located under the far left upper side of the copier, near where the paper exits the machine. Make sure it is in the unlocked position.
2) Your scanner rail is dirty and dry. This rail can be seen under the glass towards the back of the copier. The scanner rides on this rail. It is very common for these to get dirty and for the grease to dry up causing the scanner to freeze up on the rail. The glass must be removed and the rail cleaned and lubricated.
Just power off then on the copier to reset.

When I put the cartridge

This screen sounds like the charge corona grid. The grid is about 1 inch wide and a foot or so long. If so then it came out of the drum cartridge. If you look at the top of the drum cartridge, there is kind of a chrome metal bar with plastic "blocks" at either end. This is the charge corona assembly and that is where the grid fell off.
You can try to install it or as you suggested you can just replace the drum cartridge.

The printer is showing a "p" on the display. what

The "P" means that you need to add paper into the paper tray or in the manual feed tray. Odds are that you are getting a paper jam from the paper tray? I would try to fill the paper tray with paper & make sure the copier is on a level surface. You may need the paper feed tire's or you may have a paper present sensor broken? I would just use the manual feed tray. Good Luck

What does the red flashing triangle mean?

If the triangle you are seeing is like a stack of 6 dots then this means your toner cartridge is due to be changed. You are out or nearly out of toner. If you have a local toner cartridge recharging shop they can usually refill these for around $50.00. I do about 10 of these every month.

When I try to make

Leave the lid up when you make the copy and see if the light bar moves from left to right when copying. Check the scanner lock knob under the left hand side where the papers come out. Make sure it is not locked. Sometimes the scanners get stuck a lot and can cause blank copies. If it is stuck then you just have to remove the glass and then clean and lubricate the steel bar at the back that the whole unit rides back and forth on. Once that is doene it should work fine. Make sure to manually run the scanner bar out and back a few times so that you can get the whole rail lubricated. Do all this with the power turned off.

I have a sharp al-1631

You can not make any copies? Is this because it continues to jam every copy in the same location? At the fuser? If so then this means you have a quite common issue with this series of machine. You have a broken fuser drive gear. Part number NGERH0540FCZZ. I have included a picture of the part. All you will need is someone to remove the fusing unit (the part that gets hot) and replace the gear. You can get the part from PrecisionRoller.com

Some model's use 2 other initial codes, so you may need to use one of these 2 alternate codes to get your display to go blank. The rest of the procedure is the same.
Alternate codes are: #, * , C, * or pound,star,C,star and also
#, Interupt, C, Interupt
If done correctly the display should go blank.
Now key in 14 as if you were going to make 14 copies.
Now press the print button.
The machine should reset and the code should be gone.
9 times out of 10 this is a false code that pops up due to power surges or noise.
