I have Mitsubishi WS-55711 it is geting color shdows

If anything like the picture here it is a convergence problem--model indicated uses a single chip for this and it can be a do it yourself repair.1. shop repair not needed--can be fixed in the home--average is around 200.2. kits are available with instructions for around 100.3. I have instructions for this repair (my own from doing hundreds of these sets--total parts cost averages under 30 dollars.Getting at the parts and being able to solder is involved---the parts are all on the middle board in the set.Let me know with a comment if questions or need more info.SD TECH5_1_2012_2_59_45_pm.jpgThis is the part that is bad in your set.5_1_2012_3_00_45_pm.jpgNo two sets will look exactly the same but this is a convergence problem.

My ws 55711 turns off after 1 - 15 min must unplug for a while then it will come on again.

sounds like power modules blown a capactitor or two or format board is overheating due to too much dust...remove cover panels and clean out dust from inside fans and circuit boards and try again....if this does not work may be the colour wheel or bulb

Can't turn on or off with with remote. Turn

You may have a bad switch on the front control keyboard:
HAVE THE SET UNPLUGGED

1. Remove front speaker grill (it pulls off).

2. Remove inspection plate behind it.

3. Note the bundle of wires coming down from front keyboard, follow them inside and to the right where you will find 2 plugs in line, unplug both plugs: they are marked with letters and different so you cannot plug them back wrong.

4. With keyboard now unplugged try to operate the set with the remote (remote receiver is behind front screen).

5. If set now operates with keyboard out of circuit, you have two choices:
a) operate set with keyboard disconnected
b) remove entire screen unit to get at circuit board behind the buttons on front of set.

I have seen a lot of these sets with defective micro switches on that keyboard.

Before you rate this information let me know what you find and if you have any questions.

Can't switch devices from front

Try unplugging the left side of the panel. May work, but you will have no blinking light - but the inputs can be changed (so you can use your DVD etc. extra stuff and the sound will work with the remote. Cheap way
Worth a try - or replace part (Expensive way) Good luck !

TV will not reset green

I'm sorry to hear that because this will be a more difficult problem.

There are almost 50 capacitors in this set on the DM board, Format board, Power supply and the Terminal boards that have a tendency to go out of specs making this tv do many different "strange" things until the capacitors on the DM board go completely bad and the tv will simply sit flashing the green timer led and do nothing.

This has been called the "flashing green light of death"

Mitsubishi has offered a refurbishment service on some of these chassis' and we have heard several different prices - from $250 to $850... you may want to give Mitsubishi a call and see what they say.

If it's toward the high end, I don't believe you should invest more than $350.00 into the TV. There are new Mitsubishi 60" DLP TVs that can be purchased for less than $1,000.

If you have anyone that can solder and has electronics experience, and the ability to disassemble the set, you can check for the most commonly failing components.

I will say, however - this is an extremely complicated repair for the Do It Yourselfer- I would ONLY recommend opening up the chassis of this tv if you have someone with some electronic repair experience.

I hope I have given you helpful information.

Here is a thread you might also want to check out regarding the problems related to these sets.

http://www.hdtvmagazine.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11430

Take a look at the service manual and then decide if you want to jump in to this repair.

If you do not have someone very familiar with electronics, it would be worth having a Mitsubishi authorized technician do a diagnostic on the TV. There are some situations that would make this repair less than the $300.00 (depending on what is found).

Please let me know if you would like more information and/or clarification.

Will the TV tunr on using the front panel power switch?
Need to narow down the problem first. TV has IR receiver on the front panel to receive the signals from the remote, so it can be bad also.

Mitsubishi 55" Convergence chip location? Where

Look for a big heat sink (big piece of aluminum) right behind the back access panel. The brown pressboard that you need to take of to have access to the inside of the chassis. I think there is two STK chips for this tv. Older mits only had one. The STK chip is black, should be about 3" long with about 20 pins on it. It may have a metal clip covering the part number on the front.

The blue and red colors look almost like old

It is called convergence problem. Model indicated uses a single convergence chip for this. I will attach photo of the part; part on EBAY is well under 20 dollars.

Part is a STK-393-110.

The good news is I have start to finish, step by step instructions for the do it yourself person for this repair.

If you want the instructions which tell everything you will need and how to do the repair rate this solution as very helpful and let me know how to get them to you.

I have a Mitsubishi WS-55711

Hi.

There is a service bulletin. The problem is usually caused by a defective DM power board. Before replacement, the power board must be tested. Rather than replacing the whole board, the repair job is done testing and replacing at component level.

Here from Mitsubishi Bulletin:

Chassis V21 (this TV): Check C9B01, C9B02, C9B03, C9B13, C9B14, C9B17 and C9B18 (1000 uFD, 16V, 105C) on the DM Power PCB located within the DM Assembly. If they are bad, replace them with part # 181P734030 (680 uFD, 16V, 105C).

Here Service Manual - Chassis V21

Here Tv Repair Kit (not necessarily the cure, parts must be tested, the repair involves testing and soldering and must be done by a trained person).

Regards.

Ginko.

I need a dm module

DM is no longer available from Mitsubishi.

Unit can be removed and sent our for repair----

PTS ELECTRONICS---you will find them on the web and you can call or email for a quote.

Usually there are some caps and or fuses that fail in the DM unit.

Did you try to disconnect front keyboard to make sure it is not the problem?

If this told you something you did not know rate this solution as very helpful as I do this for free.

Will not turn on...not the

Could be convergence. Check the error code by pressing menu and device together for 5 sec and the timer light will flash a code. If it flashes 2 times pause and 2 times again it is the convergence IC stk393-110 and 2 fuses. Goodluck.
