You can remove or change the Window's User or administrator's password and privileges. You need access to a computer with Internet access to download the Hiren's Boot CD and burn it onto a CD. Check your bios and make sure that your boot from lan is disabled, and check the boot order. Make sure that your CD rom is first, then your hard drive, then boot from lan. Boot from lan needs to be one of the lasts you use if you use your laptop for personal use.

To get into the system recovery screen ,usually , you have to press the key indicated for this job at the start (before boot). The same procedure like the one used to get in BIOS settings .If the key is not specified on start ..you can try pressing F11 or F12 or F9 ...or the key indicated for boot manager and select the recovery partition in the list , instead of the other boot devices .Please let me know if you have any further misunderstandings .

Mine did the same thing -- noticed the fan wasn't running at all during bootup when the shutdown problem was occurring. Tapping the bottom ofthe case near the fan got the fan running and it booted fine after that. It happened twice in about a year's time and both times this fix worked. I'll probably take it apart soon and clean out the fan.
