12 year old freezer won't get above +20
I think you meen below 20 . Its mostlikely low on freon. if only half or less of the evap coil has frost , you low on freon. Then you have a leak in the system.
I came home from work and the alarm was going off
Yes, it is a temperature control. You will want to turn the dial back to about the center position and then go higher or lower from there. All the way to the right will probably make the freezer try to be colder than you need and ice cream may be impossible to dip for instance. Also if you are running colder than you need to be the freezer will use much more energy. If you have a thermometer that you can stick in there go for around 0 degrees F
Plugged in freezer after standing 3 days unplugged compressor ino
That sizzling noise i suspect is either the compressor overload or start capacitor burning out .
You need to look in connection box on side of compressor, the relay should just pull off once cover is off.BEWARE even with the freezer unplugged there is a charged capacitor connected inside this box and will give you a nasty shock should you touch it! with insulated pliers touch all terminals to each other and earth to make sure capacitor is discharged .You should be able to get astart capacitor and overload from local repair shop there not expensive if this doesn't fix it the compressor is possibly locked up and will need replacing
Marine refrigerator needs recharge w 134.
This is not a DIY job, You have to call in a refrigeration service man to do this job. Although you may know a little bit about refrigeration soldering and a bit more. Do you have a vaccumn pump to vaccumn the system to 500micro or lower before you recharge the freon. If you do then I don't think you would ask for any question at all.
Model: FKFU13M2HW I have a frigidaire freezer,
Check the coils in back for good air space, check the shelves for frost buildup, make sure there is nothing stored on top or next to the sides(one side and top should be clear at all times. If these are not the problem something has happened in the sealed system. Eric
Freezer @ +28 deg/appears common problem B 1st 2 answer right....
Model numbers of Kenmore , starting with 253. are made by Frigidare . The compressor probably has a valve out , either the high-side , or low-side . Probably the low-side valve is bad , therefore , the high-side will pump but not get the freezer as cold as it should be . Both sides have to work . Low-side helps pull the refrigerant thru the system , while the high-side pumps pressure thru the system .
Condenser side & compressor getting very hot
There is a fan you should be able to hear in the freezer.(it may turn off when the door is opened so hold the door switch in) It's behind the rear cover inside the freezer.
The only other fan is underneath the fridge at the back behind the cardboard cover where the compressor is.
Food in freezer is thawing, compressor very hot to the touch
It sounds like the motor to the circulating fan is wearing out . This fan is hard to diagnose as it will spin the blade , but as you said it will not spin fast enough to circulate air thru the freezer and refrigerator. The motor is DC non brush type. It will cost a minimum of $300.00 to repair/replace this fan assembly, but it is worth that compared to replacing the refrigerator
Fan
You should be able to hear the fan if it is on (inside ) .If the compressor is running , then the fan inside the freezer should also be running .
We lost power due to storm since restored and now
It sound like your compressor is in trouble, I would try and see what amp. the compressor is running in this 30 seconds. If it is over the name plate requirement I would try to change a 3 in 1 electrical component to see wheather it helps. Check your amp. at all time.Hope this help.God Bless
Frost free freezer with ice in the bottom and
Frost Free Freezer have an automatic defrost, which is essentially a heating element which melts any ice. If your door seals are in poor condition or something is preventing the door from sealing the ambient air may be melting the ice more than the drain can accommodate. Check the drain in the bottom of the freezer. Humidity can also cause more water to accumulate, especially if the door seals are not sealing.
Water does not seem to be flowing into ice maker.
Hi and I hope this will help. You can manually turn the timer and see if any water is dispensed into the ice cube tray . If no water is dispensed check if the valve is any good . A solenoid in the valve opens to allow water in to the ice maker. Sometimes timers stick too.
