Check fuel filter, fuel pump , gas reserve switch turned correctly to tank? obstruction in fuel line? Spray WD 40 into air box to see if it fires up. Dirty air filter will also cause starting problems

Mower died and will not start

Check the spark plug for spark. They can go bad without warning. If no spark try another one in there, ,also try the plug in another engine to see if it sparks there. If it does, check for rust on the flywheel where the magnet passes the coil for rust. Also check the edges of the coil for rust where the magnet passes it when it spins. If it's an old mower with a condenser in the ignition system, the condenser could be bad as well.

While driving my 1998 poetic bonneville when i hit the gas to pass a car or to go up a hill my car starts to jerk and the rpms start bouncing up and down.

Common problem with poetics-low fuel pressure at the injectors can cause fuel starvation when the demand is increased. You need to check the fuel pressure to verify or eliminate a fuel problem with the lurching when you mash the gas. And verify it is not a transmission harsh downshifting problem. You would be shifting from 4th gear to third if you pressed the gas to pass another car, or get to the top of a hill. If you can duplicate the lack of engine rpm's to move up steadily and stay at high rpm, with the car in park, well there you go-not the transmission or torque converter clutch but an engine problem. If you have followed regular maintenance, check fuel pressure and have the engine computer scanned for possible related trouble codes. If you have neglected maintenance, it's time to re-badge your Pontiac with a good old tune up.

My lincoln mark 8 is having trouble starting the car turns over but takes a while to start is it the fuel pump

Could be the fuel pressure regulator/check valve. It keeps pressure on the fuel rail when the engine is off.

Not passing smog, no code or engine light

Its going to be tough to find the problem without access to a 4 gas machine. Especially if there are no trouble codes in the computer.
If the fuel mixture is rich it should set a code for one or both O2 sensors. Same thing if the EGR is not working, etc.
One thing that could cause problems is the thermostat not getting the engine up to normal temp.

It sputters when i start to press gas going up a hill or when preparing to pass a vehicle?

It may just need a new fuel filter. Or a change of spark plugs, wires and any other wear items.

Is your service engine soon light lit up?

If it is then scan your computer for trouble codes and repost the codes.

Good Luck.

My engine light is on

when the check engine light is on it is to alert you to the fact that a trouble code has been stored in the computers memory, there are over 200 such fault/trouble codes so guessing is not an option, u will need to have the OBD 2 engine control system tested and then post the trouble code back here, there will be a code.

John deere 420 trouble starting getting gas and

The engine needs air, so be sure the air filter is clean. If it is not, replace it.

The engine needs spark. Replace the spark plug and be sure that the battery has a complete charge.

The engine needs good fuel so be sure the gas is newly purchased, not gas that has been sitting around for months.
