it could be that the brake switch has malfunction and is not releasing the lock when your foot is on the brake
check there first as it a safety requirement to stop children moving the gears from park

there are 2 sensors in the system
one is a heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) in the exhaust manifold / pipe before the cat converter that reports the exhaust gas composition to the ECM so that fuel/ air ratios can be adjusted
if that one is faulty it is most likely the reason for running lean or rich
the second sensor is the oxygen sensor (O2) which is after the cat converter and reads the results of the cat converter cleaning the exhaust
you may have to replace both the sensors to get a clearance or replace the cat converter as well as the HO2S unit

Most double cardan driveshaft joints have a bearing in the center.
Any good repair shop and/or driveshaft specialist shop can repair/change the assembly or make a new one if needed..

When was it last serviced? How many miles has it done? Does it freewheel OK, no drag? Have you had any work done recently that may be a clue?

Tell us everything!!

replace the IAC, idle air control valve at throttle body. replace fuel fiter, put drygas in tank, todays fuel w/ethenol is bad news for older vehicles.

Surges can be from vacuum lines. Check them. Especially the rubber parts. If they are collapsed or soft/spongy, replace them. Next I would clean the mass air flow sensor and the inside of the throttle body.

Oil filter on a 2000 Toyota Tacoma Prerunner with 6 cylinder IS a screw on filter located on the drivers side front of the engine (just beneath the alternator).

Can't recall the size but, you need a socket with extension to get to the bolts holding the skid pan then, wiggle/lift it from it's hooks. Then, you can either cuss, cuss, cuss while removing the old and installing the new OR, jack the drivers side up 4 to 6 inches ( gives you a bit more wiggle room and keeps you from scraping your elbow to the bone on whatever surface you're working on).

Even then, be ready for a good cussing bout because there still isn't much room.

could be several problems:

MAF could be dirty or faulty

exhaust leak between engine and first o2 sensor

low fuel pressure or sticking/plugged fuel injectors

failed o2 sensor

pcv valve failed or stuck open

cracked vacuum or pcv line/connection

vacuum leak downstream from MAF

A code P0171 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
The MAF (Mass Air Flow) Sensor is dirty or faulty Note: The use of "oiled" air filters may cause the MAF to become dirty if the filter is over-oiled. There is also an issue with some vehicles where the MAF sensors leak the silicone potting material used to protect the circuitry.

There could be a vacuum leak downstream of the MAF sensor

Possible cracked vacuum or PCV line/connection

Faulty or stuck open PCV valve Failed or faulty oxygen sensor (bank 1, sensor 1)

Sticking/plugged or failed fuel injector Low fuel pressure (possible plugged/dirty fuel filter!)

Exhaust leak between engine and first oxygen sensor

You don't. There's a small pin holding the assembly in place that needs to be moved. Putting the key in the ACC position normally does that. I suppose you could take a big drill or chisel and just gouge the whole face out, but I'm not sure even that will expose the pin.

I think I'd take it to a dealer or a locksmith.

Oh no... Your best bet is a screw driver and try to slide in between the tailgate and the cover to get it to unlock
