Will a two cdi box system work on a wire harness

Will a two cdi box system work on a wire harness that initially had one cdi unit but two plugs from the one box? My bike is a 1985 vt500c honda shadow. The # off my box is 131100-4500 the other two units are 131100-3552. Thanks.

Any idea why they won't work? Other than perhaps the plugs themselves, both cdi's are from a 1985 vt500, i think they used the same pulse generators also and my one cdi does have two plugs on it whereas the two box system has one plug each.

On replacing battery box on my Kymco mobility scooter direction levels have changed ie drive forward now LEFT and reverse on RIGHT! Can this problem be rectified?

It sounds like the wiring harness on your Kymco mobility scooter may have become reversed or disconnected. To fix the problem, you'll need to open the battery box and check the wiring for any loose connections or reversed wires. If there are any, you can reconnect them properly and the direction levels should return to normal. If that doesn't work, you may need to replace the wiring harness or contact a qualified technician for assistance.

HOW TO CHECK NO SPARK AT PLUG

kill switch short - unplug it!
that is all that is left on the system, if it does not resolve the issue there is a bad wire in the harness

Cdi box, I keep blowing them after installing i get about 5 minutes and then lose spark to 2 of the 3 coils on my 2005 Yamaha Vector. Help

I had the same problem with my 2006 Vector. Blown 4 CDI units. Changed out complete wiring harness and Stator, new plugs, Carbs. We narrowed it down to the coils. They were for an RX1 (based on the part number). swapped out with OEM vector coils. installed new CDI.. Sled is running flawless now.

No spark from plug

Could be a wiring problem, Bad CDI unit, Bad Coil, Bad HT lead or a bad spark plug.. first thing to do is to take the spark plug cap off and hold the wire near the engine and see if a spark arcs onto the engine. if it does then its your spark plug or spark plug cap. If that doesnt work get a test lamp and check the voltage to the wire going into the coil, if it flashs the light then the coil is bad. If that doesnt work then it could be a wiring issue, so i would try unplugging the kill switch first. if that gives no joy then its a wire harness or CDI/ Magneto issue. So my next step would be to go to a salvage yard or mechanics with the bike and ask them to test the CDI (by using one they know is good or checking the wires).. they will tell you what the problem is from there. Tell them what you have done so far so they don't waste time.

Hi. I have a stock 1998 kdx 200 that needed a blackbox. I bought a replacement cdi but the wiring on the bike is different to the 98 cdi unit. Colors are different too. The wiring on the bike is a kdx as...

Try following the wire from the stop button on the handle bar back to the CDI box. Simply unplug that wire. CDI is disabled by grounding. Does the KDX have a key switch or just the stop button. Try just connecting the pick up wire to the CDI and CDI to coil. You have to isolate ground to CDI to run. Check air gap at pick up. Use a matchbook for a gauge.(.018)

I have a yamaha r1 2001 no current to plugs 1 @ 4 tried everything change coils cdi box harness rectifire nothing works

hi,about the only thing you havent replaced is probably the culprit,it sounds like one of the pickups has failed and gone open circuit, this will tell the cdi unit that the pickup has already fired and not send the voltage pulse through to the coils, hope this helps...cheers

I have no spark 2000 KTM 125 sx

Before going to the CDI system go ahead and check the kill switches including the side stand switch, with an Ohmmeter. How good is the battery? Check the fuses. Check the wiring harness. Are all wires clean and with a solid connection? Any abraded wires? Check the operation of the ignition switch with a volt ohmmeter. Is the bike in neutral and the neutral light is lit up?

You can download a free PDF factory service manual by going to the website below >
http://www.carlsalter.com/motorcycle-manuals.asp
The manual should tell you in detail how to test the CDI and other electrics.

Please rate this solution. Thanks. > 4 diamonds would be nice!

Trophy 900 ignition problem

First, I would check all the usual suspects. Roll over valve, fuel petcock, vacuum line to petcock, fuel cap vent, fuel filters(all three), coils, crank sensor, sparkplug HT wires and caps. All electical connections(side stand switch, clutch switch, ignition switch, engine cutoff switch). Battery condition. Wireing harness around the headstock(broken wires due to pushing/pulling on harness). Also check the plug for the alarm unit located in front of the battery box. Corosion in the plug can cause an intermitent short on the gray with green-dot wire that goes to the Igniter(there is a wire that loops around on the back side of the plug). Check all these things before throwing money at it. Also, the Igniter can be tested at a Triumph dealer. Baxter Cycle (www.baxtercycle.com) would be a good source for used parts from breakers. I've heard of someone that has rebuilt Igniters to swap, but I'll have to search for them again, I think in the UK or Europe. Hope this helps.
