I just took off my stereio from my jeep and ten disk cd changer and had a connector loose for pulling on it. Check under the dash below the steering column.Their are connectors check if any are loose. I do my own work so i can save.
There is a dimmer switch on the dash board, try moving it around to see if it makes a difference. Sometimes the dimmer switch can wear out or get shorted out. If switch turns out ok, then you could have bad bulbs or circuit board
You need take off the instrument cluster; remove 3 screws above instrument panel cluster holding dash pad for open the glove box and remove 2 screws holding dash pas.
Remove dash pad pulling up to unsnap end clips. With driver's door open, remove 1 screw from the side of the lower trim panel. You have all details in ZJ-Secc-8E-Instrument-Cluster-and-Gauges (page 21 and next).
Remove the 5 mounting screws from the instrument cluster trim plate and remove the trim plate. Remove the 4 mounting screws from the instrument panel face plate and remove the face plate.Remove the instrument light grid from the center of the cluster. From behind the instrument cluster reach behind the speedometer and disconnect the speedometer cable by releasing the tab. Pull the cluster forward just enough to detach the "check engine" light bulb from the center of the cluster. Remove the instrument cluster from the dashboard.
Remove 4 screws from bottom of lens; lift lens off from bottom. Pull trip reset knob off and remove mask by liftng from bottom. Mask is snapped in along the top.
remove the 2 instrument cluster screws,and the many plugs at the back.
the bulbs are in the cluster,remove and replace with based led assemblies and reassemble.
