Toyota Celica - Answered Questions & Fixed Issues
1990 Toyota Celica won't start charging until the electric choke goes off?
The electric choke requires additional power to operate which is why it needs to be charged before the engine will start. Without the electric choke, the engine will not receive the proper amount of fuel needed to run properly. To fix this, you will need to replace the electric choke with an aftermarket unit that does not require charging.

My 97 Toyota Celica won't go out of neutral
no engine told and worse no transmission told
let me guess car has clutch pedal 99% here in USA never seen nor dreamed of ,right and I have one too,for 6 decades me,
first one for is honda motor cycle and 30 + others later.
all cars with any M/T box the clutch will fail. all do about 2 times longer lasting than a A/T box, my record is 150,000 miles
but was only a clutch slave cylinder bad.
your clutch is bad.
do the 2 man test.
but first, see if DOT4 fluid leaks on MC , bothsides of fire wall
MC = master cylinder for the clutch
the look at the slave at the bell. no leaks, never have I seen one now leak at 25 years old that be impossible ever.
the 2 man test, you pump the clutch, pedal
and person 2 looks at the slave and most move about 1 inch. 25mm
click see slave work here
,it must move fully !!!!!

Engine stalling when i step on gas petal. Idles
check the distributor cap,, clean any corrosion that's in the cap,, clean off the rotor tip,, you may need a new set of plugs, and or wires , if these don't fix the issue,, get some carb cleaner and spray it into the carb or throttle body of your motor, and check the idle control sensor in your vehicle

2001 Toyota Celica keeps over heating and I can't work out why
For many of the 90's and 2000's Toyota various models - Camry, Tacoma, 4 Runners, Corolla, and some other models overheating is usually caused by temperature sensitive fan switch on the radiator not operating. Electric fan on the radiator should operate when temp above 200 degrees. Less often the control relay 90987-03003 is defective. Check if bubbling in the radiator smells like exhaust. That would indicate a blown head gasket. A jumper wire from your marker light positive to the lower contact in the fan control relay socket will operate your fan when parking lights are on. The larger vehicles with more powerful radiator fans will need a hefty jumper from a headlight positive to avoid overheating the lighting wiring. Make sure the engine is off and warmed up to check the radiator core with your hand to see if it is getting circulation. If it is all cold the thermostat might be stuck.

Why does my ac blow my gauge fuse?
Hello. It seems there are 'uninsulated' wires in your car's wiring harness for the guages and the a/c. Please be careful because that is a fire 'hazard'. Good luck and keep me informed; if you want to.

Good alternator not charging battery in my 1984 toyota celica gts
How do you know the alternator is good?
You need a digital multimeter to check.
With car off check DC voltage of battery, should be over 12 volts dc.
Start car and measure again.
If alternator is good, dc volts should now be over original reading, if alternator is faulty battery is not charging.
If alternator is good you may have a dead cell in your battery, if so replace.
A give away of a dead cell, is that your original reading of dc volts is under 12V.

2003 Sienna - where is the fuel filter?
Hi,
To my knowledge after 2001/2, Toyota no longer uses an external fuel filter on their Sienna models, all the fuel filters are incorporated with the fuel pump inside the tank. Should your model still have an external fuel filter it would be underneath the air filter assembly. You could verify by following the the fuel line/hose.
Additionally, you may want to have your car's computer codes scanned/read, there may be indicators/errors. Depending on the errors/code displayed, they may be causing your intermittent starting which could be anywhere from the O2 sensors to the two A/F sensors or entirely something else.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards.
Thank you for using FixYa.
