The rpm cable is making a clicking noise when operating vehicle also when it is idling. Is there a way to lube it or does it need a new one?

SOURCE: Noise under intake manifold

best thing to do is to take the intake and valve covers off, its possible you may have inadvertently sucked something up and it's in you intake. That is the best solution.

No telling what it is until you take things apart and take a look. It shouldn't be too hard, make sure you get new gaskets, gaskets are cheap anyways.

SOURCE: my van makes clicking noise when going uphill & and sometimes the speeds slows right down and makes noise (clicking under vehicle).

Could be front CV axles making that noise. Check out the rubber cv boots going from the transmission to the center of the front wheels, If the boots are ripped or cracked, replace the cv axles on both sides.

SOURCE: what is a clicking or

Possible running Self Check in the a/c system. There are 6 or more solenoids and motors to control heat and air flow that can make this noise.

It has been reported since the 2003 model year. Annoying but often just that...ie: not fixable.

Check with dealership to make sure there are no recalls or technical bulletins about it.

Why does the 98 expedition 5.4 triton egine makles a ticking sound at 2-3 rpm

1. Make sure you have a detailed description of the noise is concerned with, including whether the noise is occurring at idle or above idle speed (does it disappear above 1,200 rpm), and if the engine is cold, hot or both when the noise is occurring. These engines generate a lot of "normal" noises 2. Determine what environment is in when the noise is most noticeable to them (inside passenger compartment, next to building with/without the driver and/or passenger window open, or beside the wheel well). Validate by using your own perception. 3. Compare the noise generated with a new vehicle, if available, with an ENGINE build date of 3/30/2005 or later on Mustang and 4/18/2005 or later on F-150 to F-350, Expedition and Navigator vehicles. if the noise is the same, the noise is normal and would be a characteristic of the vehicle. Do not continue with this bulletin. 4. Diagnose noise when engine is at normal operating temperature. Verify oil temperature by using a diagnostic scan tool and monitoring the engine oil temperature. 5. Check the type of oil filter installed on the vehicle. A dirty or clogged filter may cause a pressure drop. Look for aftermarket brands not recognized in the market or a production filter that has gone beyond the standard Ford recommended change interval. 6. Check for signs of oil brand used and viscosity.

2007 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 4.8 HIGH IDLE

You need to check for intake vacuum leaks. Also did you have the battery disconnected before repair, if not disconnect the neg cable for 10 minutes to reset system to base settings.

My 1994 olds cutlass surpreme idle at 2000 rpm .why ?

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome. You may need to adjust your idle. It may be set too high. If not, you could have a bad idle control sensor. This would cause your vehicle to idle high. It may be a defective map sensor. Make sure the cable is not sticking, which would cause the vehicle to idle high. It may need adjusted or replaced.

RPM problem

Check and lube the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve,

This tiny electric motor is mount on top valve cover and close to the accelerator cable.

The function of IAC motor is to idle up the RPM when more load is added.

Example: A/C on,light on,stop light on and radio on.

A stuck IAC can be free by few soft tape on the body of the motor.

To lube the worm gear, you will need WD-40 to free up the old grease and lube white lithium grease.

Clean the electrical contacts with CRC electric part cleaner.

This electric motor is very expensive.

Please handle it with care.

Low engine idle speed when the air conditioning is running

the ac idle assist may be defective, if it's electric check the fuses if it's vachum operated check for vac. leaks. Also lube cables sometimes they stick Use wd-40 on the cables sparingly don't want dirt to stick to the cable.
