Transmission wont engage - 1990 Lexus LS 400

Hi,normaly white smoke head gasket gone,so wont move becouse of cars ecu has picked up falt.

Try adding a bottle of Lucas Oil Transmission Stabilizer...add when motor is warm...tranny filter is most likely clogged and dirty...this additive works on most...

Check that the shift cable is connected (top of the transmission)

check fluid level in transmission . run the fault codes and look for a faulty TCM or torque converter clutch solenoid / servo

May be a bad Torque Converter Clutch solenoid, or bad torque converter itself.

check transmission fluid... if full replace transmission filter (inside transmission) if that fails, then the entire transmission will probably have to be rebuilt or replaced.

Check fluid, add as needed. Will need to get leak fixed or this will continue.

Where do you live Alaska? Try a block heater if this doesn't help try flushing your ******.

The whining noise you are hearing is the pump starving for oil, due to a clogged filter. If you drove the car as you sadi for a week, with nothing but third, and it quit moving, you have severly damaged the transmission, and will be looking at either an overhaul, or replacing it.

check transmission fluid, get transmission flushed.
