A plugged air filter, low fuel pressure, etc.The clogged fuel filter and clogged cat.-------
As
per your problem mentioned, it indicates the problem with fuel
pressure.-------- The fuel pressure is low.---------- First thing you can do is
get the fuel pressure checked, this will confirm the problem. --------- If the
pressure checked low that means problem is with faulty pump and clogged fuel
filter. -------- But if pressure checked ok, then clogged catalytic
conveter is other possibility, also try putting it in a low gear then check , if it works on lower gears, that means transmission gear slipping problem. Check your transmission fluid level it could be low.,.----------Also
another test procedure you can try is, spray starter fluid on the throttle body
and see if car starts and runs fine with starter fluid sprayed. Then it
indicates fuel pump is faulty.--- Do this test when you face this no start
problem.------- This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.
SOURCE: Loss of power/Engine Sputters going up hill
Check our air filter. Nine times out of ten it is something very minor .If you have not changed your air filter in a while, this could cause the loss of power going uphill. On flat ground the vehicle does not have to work as hard as uphill. If your air filter is dirty, this will hamper the carb from breathing properly, thus no power.
SOURCE: lack of power
You should try doing a tune up change spark plugs, wires, pcv,and fuel filter.it's reasonable to assume that the rings and
valves (inside the engine) have become worn. Worn rings
and valves will cause the engine to have low compression
and low compression = weak power.
You may be curious as to why the engine's lack of power is
most evident when driving up a hill. Well, when a vehicle is
going up a hill, the engine is under more stress than when
driving on a flat road. Therefore, any wear in the rings/valves
will tend to be revealed - in the form of compression - when
the engine is under stress.
you will need to have a mechanic verify that the rings and/or
valves are indeed worn. Incidentally, this generally involves
what's known as a "wet compression test".
If the mechanic tells you he positively confirmed a worn ring
and/or worn valve condition, don't immediately authorize him
to do the work. Why? Because, this type of work is very
expensive and therefore you'll want to get several opinions
before jumping into anything. By the way, even though this
vehicle's high mileage strongly points to the above diagnosis,
it's possible the cause of this problem is something else.
For example, one of the electronic sensors that controls the
engine may have gone bad. hope this help have a nice day.

When was last time plugs & wires checked or replaced, as well as fuel filter.

Hey, maybe the engine is just too small for big hill's :) but u can try to chance air filter and fuel filter and overlook the spark plugs (when it's a petrol engine)
