1993 Jaguar XJ6 Logo
Posted on Jun 22, 2011

I recently bought a cherry 93' low mileage XJ6 that was garaged for nine years. After driving it a couple of days, I noticed a black rubber/plastic tube that had come loose from a port hole under the left rear end of the car. It easily slid back in and I tied a loose knot to prevent it from extending further and dangling on the road. Can anyone tell me what this tube is and how I should proceed? Thanks,

There is a black plastice tube that run from the gas filler drain, through the trunk to the bottom. It drains water caught around the fuel filler. Without it your trunk will get wet when it rains. Ther eis a spring with a plastic insert that sticks up through the gas filler boot, and the plastic hose connect to that, although it can get pushed down and out and may have fallen through the trunk as well. There is a spring clamp to hold it to the rubber boot but it could have gotten torn away.

Hello , I've a Volvo 940 1995 with a b200ft engine. Recently I've noticed that black smoke comes from exhaust & a very poor mileage about 9 miles per gallon, engine rough at idle but clears up on...

Black smoke points to unburnt fuel. I would start by replacing the spark plugs and wires if you have not done so in the last couple of years.

1999 RX 300 Code and Overdrive Issue

P1133 is the Air/fuel sensor Most cars there called O2 sensor, but you know it's a Lexus. Need to be different. The A/F sensor is bet bought at the dealer, the after market will just have you replacing it again within a year. P1133 is the Bank 1 sensor 1 malfunction which is the same side as the #1 cylinder. I believe the cylinder #1 is right Bank towards the firewall. You have to get to it from underneath with a 22mm wrench or a O2 sensor socket. Let some WD40 or liquid wrench soak in for 30 min to an hour then try to remove it, the other hard part is to disconnecting the wire harness. Good luck and hope this helps, keep me posted, be glad to help.

I have a check engine light with a 39 fuel fail code on a 93 xj6. I havent noticed any other issues as far as overheating, or any problems.

As your expert stated it is not a serious problem unless that chk engine lite is flashing. Then the cat converter could be damaged. Also considering I just started the vehicle two days ago after sitting for about nine months thru winter storage, it could be caused by a little oil leakage issue entering the exhaust system. Either way it is not a major issue and I might try disconnecting the battery to reset that lite as your expert also stated. Hey....what do you want from a sixteen year old British car? Thanks for the feedback.

Sudden release of power while driving at 65 miles

at that high a mileage it could be very likely the trans is starting to fail, have the computer tested for transmission trouble code's (trans is fully electronically shifted and controlled), also it is very unlikely the alignment check is related.
