SOURCE: 1998 dodge neon ignition feed fuse in the car keeps blowing
Are you using the same power feed from the old radio? If so, your new radio may require a higher current fuse. Check the manufacturers information the came with the custom radio and make certain the current (amps) required is the same.
If the new radio has a higher power amplifier for increased audio, it will blow a low rated fuse.
On the other hand, it sounds as though you may have pinched the power feed wire in the radio bracket, trim cover or have it resting agaist a sharp bracket. So when you put the car in drive, the dash flexes enough to cause the short.
Does it blow the fuse when you shift to reverse?
let me know.

There's a short in the circut. Check continuity of the wires that feed from that fuse (you'll need a wiring diagram to identify each wire). You've got something that is causing too much amperage to move through the circut and the fuse blows. Make sure the amperage on the fuse is correct for the application (your owner's manual or fuse box diagram should tell you what amperage rating to install in each fuse slot).

there are two ground wires. One by each headlight assembly on the main crossbar. One or both may be loose. Mine had the same problem found that problem tightened ground and that fixed the problem. No more fuse light.

Unplug the power feed to the motor and turn on the switch. If it blows the fuse you have a short in the wiring you will need to repair. If the fuse does not blow then the motor is bad, change it. I woulld connect the new motor , groiund it and see if it works before I put it all back together. .
