2002 Elantra P0121 code

Not sure what your background is, but I just posted a question.
-high idle on startup sometimes
-harsh shifts between 2-3 when cold
-only once did it not shift up from 2nd
-when on highway and driving for a while, engine surge (like overdrive kicks on and off)
-when engine is hot and driving in rush hour, tranny doesn't shift very smoothly

Any suggestions?

my car in park idles eaithert very high, about 3k, or sometimes will fluctuate between 1.5k and 3k. While driving idle is high, about 11 1.5k, and has trouble with harsh shifts. I had codes of a bad TPS, and a misfire in 2. So I replaced the TPS and di the plugs just in case. I reset the computer and it went back to no codes and just the flutuating park idle, and shifting was better. About ten miles into driving to see if it would work itself out, it popped the codes again and went back to high park idle and harsh shifts. Please help if you have suggestions, going crazy.

Before spending the money on a new TPS, you could use electrical contact cleaner on the connector and harness, and see whether that helps. It could be dirty/corroded terminals on the harness causing the problem. It's cheap and easy and worth a shot before laying out the cash for a new TPS.

Yes, I had the P0121 code TPS Range/performance A code come up. Sound like a TPS switch replacement?

Well i saw your other post. try changing the TPS and see if that corrects it because that will screw up alot of stuff for your tranny.

If you are getting a range performance code, then you need to put the car in nuetral and adjust the cable on the range switch on the transmission. If you look almost under the air filter you will see the range switch and the cable being connected to it. If you notice, there are two "prongs", one on the cable bracket, the other on the range switch. Each "prong" has a hole in the end of it and they must be in alignment when the gear selector is in nuetral. Put the car into nuetral and then use a 12mm socket to loosen the nut on top of the cable bracket and adjust the two holes until you can slide a pin into them and lock them back down into place. This should stop your problem.

I need to know the what the problem for error code for Imm 1572 is for a Subaru WRX 2002 sedan ? Thank u

LMM? Most trouble codes are a letter followed by four numbers, example P0121. Not sure what you a talking abut or how you came up with the number you did. A little more background as to what your problem is may help.

2002 auto saturn sl1 revs a little high, and shifts a little hard when going between gears?

I just went through the same thing and checked the air idle control valve, and the throttle position sensor. . took it off and cleaned it. I took off the throttle body and cleaned it. Listened for vacuum leaks. Then after the same problem persisted, I sprayed brake cleaner directly on the intake manifold gasket between cylinders 1 and 2 and just like that, the RPM"S went down. I need a new intake manifold gasket.

My 2002 explorer with v8 engine idles really high when i start it and it shifts really hard and my check engine light stays on sometimes it even idles really low when stopped also the lights dim and fan...

You may want to check for a broken vacume line it will cause a high acceleration. Also have the code extracted and see what it says let me know or post it it would be helpful in giving you a more precise diagnosis.

Oldsmobile Delta 88, Idles High on Cold start with DTCs

Sounds like a vacumn leak. Gasket under intake plenum may be leaking. Be sure the pcv valve has the o-ring around it in the correct place also as it will set a code.

2002 hyundai elantra gls . low idle speed, check engine light on, and doesn't shift out of low gear . ( 50,000 ) miles

Did the 'Check Engine' Light come ON? Whenever the 'CHECK ENGINE' light comes on, the ECU (Engine Control Unit) sets a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC). These codes identify the particular engine management system which caused the light to come on. You'll need to use/find an OBDII (On-Board Diagnostic) Scanner to retrieve any code which have been stored in the ECU computer. Afterward, we might be able to help you DIAGNOSE and perhaps eventually fix the problem.

High Idle when shifting. It goes up and down idle on it own.

dear friend-the hyundai products has the future of returning to idle slowly so any changes wil not bring it down quicker unless you can find away to confuse the ecu.

Harsh or improper 1-2 upshift

Have you had your throttle position sensor checked out? It'll cause a harsh and/or delayed shift from first to second. Second thing to check out is your PCM, as it controls the shifting of your transmission.

P0121 - Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch A Circuit Range/Performance Problem

The throttle position sensor is probably either damaged, dirty, unplugged, or dead. It's located on the engine. Find the throttle body - the TPS will be the little box on the side of the throttle body - it measures how far open the throttle is, and tells the computer so the computer knows how to direct the car's driving parameters (shift points, fueling, etc).
