Under the hood is a fuse box. In this box is going to be a large fuse (between 60 and 100 amps usually) and it may be labeled 'main', 'alt', or 'batt'. This is the fuse that runs from the battery to the main power of the vehicle. When you hook a battery up like that it blows this main fuse. You'll need to replace that and any other fuses it blew out.

Nothing electrical works

the main terminal is a heavy red wire attached to the fuse block it should be clean and tight. also you can hook a test light from the battery neg. to the terminal it should light. if it doesn't light you could have a bad engine ground (primary ground). or a poor connection tot he main fuse block terminal previously mentioned

1006 olds cutlass supreme won't crank

try taking a power wire from the battery positive and getting it on the starter terminal and seeing if the starter turns over if it does it could be a fusible link that runs between the starter terminal and the relay
