My 2005 Altima shifts hard from 1st to 2nd like it has a shift kit, fluid is clean and level is good. This usually happens when the car is cold and most times gets better when transmission heats up. Is there any easy answer?

Sounds like a sticking solenoid. Try a transmission additive. TranX is a good one.

check clutch hydrolics to make sure fluid is not low. Try double clutching. When in neutral, push clutch in, then out and in again and try shifting into low.

97 town car not shifting from 1st to 2nd gear

Check the Coolant (antifreeze) level. My 94 continental has a hard time shifting from 2nd to 3rd when the level is low. Also, this may indicate that the transmission fluid is too old to work properly. The transmission fluid is cooled at the bottom of the radiator, since cool fluid works better than hot fluid (especially when the trans fluid is old) that could make the transmission not shift properly. Keep the coolant level up until you can have the trans fluid checked.

Transmission miss shift

Low fluid level, clogged transmission filter, crimpped line to oil cooler. If over 60k miles and transmission never serviced then a good place to start.

93 LincolnTown Car will not shift above 2nd.

Have you tried taking the car in for maintenance? Usually on most (older) auto transmissions there is a hose coming off of the exhaust manifold or carburetor area that provides the pressure for the transmission fluid. If that hose doesn't have a good seal, your shifting may be difficult and the transmission may not stay in the gear you want it to.
