Power windows will only work from the driver's side master control switch and then only if the lock window button is on. If the lock button is off none of the windows will work at all and you have to push the lock window button back on and hold it while pushing the driver's side button to get the windows to work again. I have a 2005 Ford Taurus. We have replaced the master control switch but still have the same problem. The switch seems to get hot if you move the lock button to unlock.

Try switching off your safety child control on drivers side door panel, if not check fuse or replace drivers door master window switch assembly

Check inside of door where wiring comes thru for broken wires ,ECU doesn't control windows or door locks. You didn't state what model vehicle you own. But opening and closing door on drivers side causes broken wires on numerous vehicles over the years, most makes and models. Split boot and check all wires inside for breakage.

if more than one power window not working you have blowed fuse or you have window on lock out mode on the master control switch on the driver side.if master window control switch on driver side wont work but 2 windows will work using their switch the master control switch on driver side is bad.

Try a passenger side door switch or a new complete master switch on drivers door. Alaways check fuses also.

Sounds like the master switch is not plugged in properly, this is the switch in the driver's door.

It has to be the switch or the wiring, right? So pull out the switch and probe the back with a volt meter to see if power is coming out of the switch. If yes, trace the wires to the doors.

Sounds like a bad master switch, bad wiring to the drivers door, or bad body control module.

This may be just a case of inadvertently hitting the window lock out n th driver door window switch by mistake. Check that first. Here's some background on window operation

Principles of Operation
The driver power window regulator motor is controlled directly by the master window/door lock/unlock switch (and its integrated "auto down" module). Power is supplied to the power window relay and the master window/door lock/unlock switch, and the passenger power window switch when the SEC/timer module grounds the coil side of the power window relay. The SEC/timer module will ground this relay when the ignition is in the ON position and will remain energized for approximately 15 minutes or until the driver or passenger door is opened.

The power rear quarter glass is also directly controlled by the master window/door lock/unlock switch. The power rear quarter glass power latches also utilize reversible motors. The power rear quarter glass power latches are operated by applying power and ground to the motor leads to open the window, and then reversing polarity on those same leads to close the window.

You might have a faulty switch in the master!! Sounds like the lock and unloc has gone bad on you!!
