My 1995 Saturn has on oil leak-it looks to be near the right-side CV-Axle. Also it lacks power. I cleaned the sparkplugs recently and it was running fine again, but when I put about 4 quarts of oil in, after the oil light came on, it started running rough. It makes a chugging sound. Also, when I get up to about 45 mph, the engine really starts to vibrate heavily. I can only assume that the oil leaked back up into the sparkplugs, which is causing probably causing the rough acceleration. Do you think it's my valve seals or my piston rings? Also, where do you think the underside oil leak is coming from?

Do you have to remove the snap ring on 1994 saturn sl 2 to get axel out

The left axle is a little tricky I use a crow bar and tuck the curved end in behind the cup of the axle then look for a good sturdy position on the transmission and do a quick snap on the crowbar and the axle pops out. Be ready with an oil pan if you did not drain the transmission oil as it will come out. Also Saturn transmissions get serviced with dexron III even the manual transmissions. When reinstalling the new axle place the transmission end in first and get the snap ring to hold before re-assembling the rest of it. Is best to insert the end of the axle into the transmission, then hold the axle straight while pushing inward on the axle until you feel the cv joint bottom out inside the cup then with a dead blow hammer, strike the outer end of the cv joint and you should be able to feel the inner snap into place. To make sure that it is reach in and grab the inner axle you should not be able to pull it back out by hand. If you try to hammer on the inner cv joint during installation you take the chance of damaging the boot. And causing premature failure of the inner axle cv joint. Hope this helps.

I have just bought a 91 subaru sportswagon. I got told it had a oil leak when I looked under the bonnet during the day I seen a whole lot of oil in the bottom drivers side of the engine bay and looks like...

Sounds like your talking about ripped CV axle boot that has spun all of its grease out onto the engine and firewall. The fast tap is most likely from the lack of grease in the axle causing it to wear out and wobble inside the joint at times. You would normally hear this noise more while turning. If your take it to someone who knows Subarus, they can change out the axle in about 15 minutes or less. The axle can run about $50 aftermarket but will cost more if you get it from Subaru. I hope this info helps.

My driver side cv joint inner boot keeps breaking

Are you replacing the cv axle yourself. If you are going with an aftermarket axle, that may be your problem. I would recommend going back to O.E. Also, some original saturn parts may be hard to find.

Grease leaking from front end

Check the axle boot. When they rip or crack they will sling grease around.

Need to know a parts name

If you are referring to the metal part the axle slides into,It's cold the transmission,If it is leaking around the shaft it is called the inner cv axle seal,But if something blew up,I'd let a mechanic physically look at it.

Oil on the engine and popping noise when turning

You dont state the engine size. A ny oil leak whether dripping on the floor or remaining on the engine should be investigated as there should NOT BE ANY WET OIL LEAK. Grime is another story and should be cleaned appropriately. The "popping " noise you're hearing turning slowly sounds likw a bad CV ( constant velocity ) joint on the front axle. There are 2 cv joints on each front axle. Possilble leaking boot throwing grease near the back of the front wheel to indicate which joint is noisy. Check the B/U light fuse. Hope this helps.

Clik, clik on the rigth side when making turn need to know what to avoid, and possible short cut to replace c/v joints [axle] on both side of 1995 saturn sl2 [automatic].thank you much.

There really is no short cut....you need to replace the half-axle on the right side (will get both inner and outer CV joints). Is driveable with noise, but may eventually fall apart.

Clicking/Squealing When Turning Wheel

Could be two problems. First the power steering; Check the tension of the drive belt for the power steering and the condition of the belt. If that appears to be OK, check the level of the fluid and its condition or apperance compared to new fluid that is recomended by the manufacturer. If that appears OK, it could possibly be the power steering pump it self. Second the clicking; It is most likely a bad CV (constant velocity) axle. Good Luck.
