The six way power seat on my 2005 suburban has an issue. When I turn the motor off and remove the key the motor goes to it's down and back position but continues to run. And it doesn't respond to the pre-select button and the seat (not seat back) doesn't go up in the front but will in back.

The first place to start would be to have the dealer or someother qualified repair shop , that has a professional scan tool read DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes in the driver seat module ! The seat adjuster motors are controlled by the driver seat module through the adjuster motor control circuits. In an inactive state both of the motor control circuits are grounded within the driver seat module. In an active state the driver seat module switches the appropriate motor control circuit to battery positive voltage. The direction of the adjuster motor rotation is determined by which of the motor control circuits is switched to battery positive voltage while the other remains grounded. During adjuster motor operation the driver seat module also monitors the current flow through the motor control circuits.

Memory Seat System Components
The memory seat system consists of the following components:
• Power seat switch assembly
• Memory recall switch assembly
• Horizontal adjuster motor
• Front vertical adjuster motor
• Rear vertical adjuster motor
• Recline adjuster motor
• Driver seat module
• Driver door module
• SEAT 30A circuit breaker
Memory Seat System Description
Battery voltage is supplied to the driver seat module through the power seat circuit breaker. The driver seat module supplies the seat adjuster switch assembly with a battery positive reference voltage. While the seat adjuster switches are in an inactive state the switch contacts are closed to the adjuster switch ground circuit. When a seat adjuster switch is pressed to an active state the switch contact is closed to the reference voltage circuit. Battery voltage on a switch signal circuit indicates to the driver seat module the switch status is active. Each seat adjuster motor is controlled by the driver seat module through 2 motor control circuits. While the seat adjuster motors are in an inactive state the motor control circuits are closed to ground circuit contacts within the driver seat module. The driver seat module operates the seat adjuster motors by switching one of a motor's control circuits to battery voltage. The seat adjuster motors are bidirectional and the direction of adjuster motor rotation is determined by which of the adjuster motor control circuits is switched to battery voltage while the other remains grounded.

Memory Set/Recall Operation
The seat adjuster motors are equipped with internal position sensors. The adjuster motor position sensors are monitored by the driver seat module and are used to determine the seat position when storing or recalling memory settings. The horizontal, front vertical, and rear vertical adjuster motors use hall effect type position sensors. The hall effect position sensors are supplied with battery positive reference and ground circuits from the driver seat module. The position sensor signal circuits are supplied battery positive voltage through a resistor them monitored within the driver seat module. During adjuster motor operation the hall effect position sensor provides a single pulse for every revolution of the adjuster motor shaft. The driver seat module counts the pulses from the position sensor signal circuits to determine the adjuster motor positions when storing or recalling memory seat position settings. The recline adjuster motor is equipped with a potentiometer type position sensor. The recline motor position sensor is supplied with it's own 5-volt reference ground circuits from the driver seat module. The recline position sensor signal circuit is referenced from ground within the driver seat module. The signal voltage monitored by the driver seat module ranges from 0.39 - 4.58 volts and is determined by the wiper location on the resistor within the recline motor position sensor. The recline motor position sensor signal circuit voltage level is used by the driver seat module to determine the seat recline position when storing or recalling memory seat position settings.
The memory recall switch assembly on the driver's door provides inputs to the driver door module. Battery voltage is supplied to the memory

The guy that posted the first solution...that works...My power seat module went bad , so I used a 12 volt batery charger on the wires to move my power seats.

The power steering is on this vehicle is electronically assisted. Meaning it does not have a power steering pump. The electric motor could be going out, pulling too much current at times, and tripping the breaker. The best thing to do is take it to the dealer, and have them inspect it.

sounds like the motor brushes are about worn out.
Where you actually sitting on the seat when you applied power directly to the motor? If the motor is wearing out, it may work under little or no load but won't work when your weight is on the seat. Will the seat move while hitting the button if you also help push the seat in the direction you are trying to move it? If yes, the motor is weak. Change the motor, check, clean and lube the tracks, if nec., then see if that's better.

pull them all the way up and some models have a button inside or on the side to push in while removing in an upward thrust others may simply just with a bit of thrust will come right out very easily

GENERAL PROCEDURES Rear Window Motor Initialization s1r~us~en~file=ani_caut.gif~gen~ref.gif CAUTION: Make sure that no obstructions are present in the power rear window system when carrying out this procedure.
NOTE: This procedure must be carried out when repairs are performed on any part of the power rear window system including when: the power rear window motor is removed from the window regulator drum housing, a new power rear motor is installed, a new power rear window regulator is installed, a new power rear window module is installed, and any operation in which grease or lubricants are applied to the power rear window system.
NOTE: All power rear window components (window glass module, window regulator, window motor, and glass runs) must be installed and torqued to specification before carrying out this procedure.
NOTE: Steps 1-6 must be completed within 30 seconds. The entire procedure must be completed within five minutes.
NOTE: Once the ignition key is turned to the ON position in Step 6, it must remain on until the entire procedure is completed.
NOTE: Steps 7 and 9 require that the power rear window control switch be held in the closed position until the power rear window motor stalls the window in the upper header seal. Step 8 requires that the window control switch be momentarily turned to the open position.
  1. Start with the ignition in the OFF position.
  1. Turn the ignition to the ON position.
  1. Press the power rear window control switch vent button six times.
  1. Turn the ignition to the OFF position.
  1. Press the power rear window control switch vent button six times.
  1. Turn the ignition to the ON position. The power rear window will move up-down-up-down approximately 20 mm (0.8 in). This movement indicates that the power rear window motor has entered initialized mode.
  1. Rotate and hold the power rear window control switch to the closed position until the window stalls in the upper header seal.
  1. Momentarily rotate the power rear window control switch to the open position and release. The power rear window will carry out a one-touch down operation until the window stalls at the bottom of the travel stop designed into the window regulator.
  1. Rotate and hold the power rear window control switch to the closed position until the window stalls into the upper header seal. Once this operation is complete, the window will move up-down-up-down approximately 20 mm (0.8 in). This movement indicates that the power rear window motor has been successfully initialized.
  1. Verify correct operation of the power rear window by moving the window to the fully open, vent, then fully closed positions.

My rear window goes down but not up. the motor works. it won't roll back up.

There rear window switch works by reversing power to the window motor. In the up position it will supply power on one wire to the window motor and ground to the other. In the down position it will supply power to the wire that was previously ground and ground the wire that was previously power.

With the switch removed but still plugged in back probe all the wires with a test light. One should have power to it all the time and one should be grounded all the time. The other two wires are the ones you want to look at. With the switch in the down position. one of the two wires left should have power and the other should have ground. Since the window went down I don't suspect there will be an issue with this part of the switch. In the up position there should be power on the wire that was ground when the switch was up. There should not be power on the other wire, which I suspect there is. If the other wire has power on instead of being grounded than we know the switch is bad. If the other wire does not have power on it than the next step will be to tap the window motor with a screwdriver while holding the switch in the up position. If the motor rolls the window back up than the motor has gone bad.

Make sure the key is in the run position when you check this out.

I have a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. My drivers side front power seat does Not stay adjusted. Every time I turn the ignition on the seat moves backward and the back lays down.

The limited edition brings memory setting for mirrors and seats, it recognizes which key are you putting in the ignition and puts the saved setting accordingly to that driver's key. That is the reason your seat keeps moving. You need to reprogram the seat position for that key. Good luck

I accidentally put the key to our second car half way into the ignition to our 2005 chevy suburban. I immediately took it out, but when I went to start it, the key will go in, but will absolutely not turn...

Yes. Turn your key to the on position and leave it. You will see the display flashing security in the instrument panel. leave the key in the on position for approximately ten minutes till the security light stops flashing. Then try to start it. If it does not start. Immediately turn the key back to the off position and turn it back to the on position and repeat the ten minute process. It may take up to three ten minute cycles to reprogram your key to the antitheft system. Make sure your battery doesnt go dead during the process or it will not work. To make your headlights stay off. press down on the parking brake pedal this will keep your headlights off while the key is on.

there may be a software issue, there is a reprogram for seat heater issues. Bulletin 05-08-50-008 may pertain to that, a AC DELCO Shop or the dealer can ck that and see if this bulletin applies.

Six way power driver seat bottom does not adjust up or down.

it can only be 2 things, either the switch is bad or the motor in the transmission is bad, both parts are a common failure so u must test each to determine which is at fault, do u have a 12 volt test light? if not get one, about $6 from any parts store like Kragen, Autozone and others, raise the seat as high as possible and disconnect the motor that is inop, (be careful not to break the connector locks) push the switch to operate that motor in one direction (up for this test), the test light should light, then move the test light to the other terminal of the connector and press the switch for down, again the test light should light, if the lights go on as described then the motor is the problem and if they don't the switch is the problem.
