What year is my Yamaha Kodiak 400?

If the 10th digit is an X the year of Manufacture is 1999. *Note* This is the date for when the Kodiak was Built NOT the year it was first registered for use.
VIN numbers are basically the same system. Check this website which might help explain the letters and numbers.

Hi the AA mechanic ruined my car pulled out all the wrong fuses and now the stereo needs the code. Model number:RENRDW131-10 Product number: FD***********74 Thank you

If this is the stock radio for this car call the car manufacturer dealer (ford, chevy, etc), they will Ask for your vin number, and they can provide you with an unlock code, this is usually the only way, as each radio has its own custom unlock code associated with the particular cars vin, and also the serial number on the back of the radio. If this radio came from a different car , you will most likey have to take it to the dealer, so they can unlock it for you using their computer.

WHAT YEAR CHEVY VEGA ENGINE IS CASTING NUMBER T0414CBS 17U170350

I have some info, but not much.
The letter T stands for Tonawonda plant. 0414 stands for April 14 and CBS would tell you its a Chevy and the model info.
17 means Chevrolet and the year 1977. The rest of that number should match the last 6 digits of the VIN number on the car the engine came out of.
You can check with the dealer for more info.

Where is the paint code on a 1978 MGB

The VIN for the later MGB circa 1970 to 1980, may be found stamped on a plate secured to the left hand door post, and on a plate secured to the top of the dashboard.

These colour codes maybe useful -

Just bought a 1931 Desoto, the serial number on the registration is 3A17410. I can't find anything with that number. Is it possible the number is a body style or engine serial number?

This is way out of my league, but here is some info that might help.
Before 1954 there was no uniform VIN number used in the USA.
In the years leading up to 1931 Chrysler Corp and a few other car companies used a FEDCO plate on the dash or firewall for the serial number ID of the car. The car was registered by this number by some states, and some used the engine number. Starting in 1931 the serial number was changed and moved to the door post. So a 1930 car should not have a plate on the door post.
The engine number was always stamped on the block. Also keep in mind 1931 Chrysler products were carried over into the 1932 model year, including Desoto.
The serial number depended on the make and model unlike cars of today. A series 31 model started with a number 6 or 8, while a series 32 model started with letters like SA or CFS, a series K started with the letter K, and so on. Actual serial numbers were seven digits.
On most models the serial number is also stamped on the frame near the front spring support.
You can do an internet search for DeSoto FEDCO numbers and serial numbers to get a general idea of how the serial numbers were arranged. You can also contact Chrysler Historical Society to see if they have the build card for your car. The build card would have both the original engine number and serial number. There are other resources including the Antique Auto Club of America.

When was my car manufactured?

The vin number is the model year. If the door tag says manufactured in '06, usually given as month and year, would be actually manufactured in late '06 as an '07 model car. Actual date of manufacture is often important in ordering parts, as modifications can occur during that model year's production run.

Hi I bought cadillac brougham 1991 and I cant register in my country because when checked car they said want to see number pressed in frame vin/chassis number, please if you know which place tells .They...

Cadillac usually stamped the VIN on the first crossmember lip just in front of the radiator, and you should be able to view it by looking down just in front of the radiator towards the driver side, and you might need to take some sandpaper to it in order to actually read it, but that is also not always the case and if it is not located there then let me know.
