My 1997 polo drivers electric window has stopped working. The dashboard switch is ok (swopped for passenger window switch which is working). What's the most likely fault?

Swop the window switch with the drivers one, try to send the window up, if that works you need a new switch, if it does not work then the window motor needs looking at. Good Luck.

The relay operates all the windows. The drivers door switch is the master and has to be connected for the rest to work. It sounds like you have a bad motor or a bad connection on the motor in the drivers door.

The window regulator has failed or the wiring to it or the switch is defective for the window. If the switch is ok you should see the dome light dim slightly when the window switch is operated with the door open to keep the light on, better to do this at night. If the interior lights dims a tiny bit then the motor is defective and you will need to replace the window regulator.

You are probably looking at a regulator or motor.

pls. check the relay or fuse that controls the motor function of ur sliding roof and window/ if relay and fuse is ok? check the electrical supply if ok then the motor is fried....

If works from driver's side ok then you have a bad switch on passengers side cause the power comes from driver's side switch

Carefully remove the window switch, open it and spray electrical contact cleaner on contacts. Try it now. You may need to remove door panel and lubricate guides and tracks for window. Let me know.

Hello, from the sounds of it your problem is the switch for the window. The passenger side window can be either the drivers side or passenger side switch. You will need to check to see which switch isn't letting the voltage thru.

I removed all 3 switches from driver and passenger door, which is really easy with a flat head screw driver. took them completely apart, very carefully, with a small screwdriver out of a christmas cracker. put them back together again and 2 switches started working, so I put 1 in the drivers side and 1 in the passengers side so now my drivers door window opens and I lean over to open the passenger door. cool, no money spent...yet ;o)

Try sprayer the switch with electrical contract cleaner and then operate the switch.
