My 1997 Mazada Protege has no spark. I went to start it and nothing. I checked for spark and i got one spark once and then nothing. If i left it for 30 seconds i would get one spark then nothing. I changed the distrubtor cap and now i have nothing. Do i have a week coil that is located under the cap?

SOURCE: 2001 mazda protege will not start

well, with all that you have changed the only two possible things that are left PCM and the ECM....

Do you have an alarm system on this vehicle? If you purchased this car second hand it may have something that is inhibiting the engine from firing. From what you have told us here that would be where I would start looking.

I really hope this is helpfull

How do i replace the muffler on a 1997 mazada

doesn't really matter. if it is bolted or welded as you can cut the old muffler out and get adaptor sleeves that go over the pipes and are clamped on with the muffler clamps.

Periodic no start of 1997 Mazda Protege

Dave, Nuetral Saftey switch will not make the accessories not work. Sounds like a loose or corroded, battery cable.. Check that first.. If the cables are tight and clean.. Check the condition of the battery.. Sams club or Costco will check it for you for free.. Possibly the auto parts stores will too.

Changed spark plugs now runs rough and has thick white exhaust

Changing the plugs probably had nothing to do with it.
White smoke is usually a sign the engine is burning coolant or trans fluid. You might want to check those fluid levels.
If the coolant is low, you may have a leaking head gasket or intake gasket.

I have a mazada protege 1997,4cyc, w/ standard transmission, the gear shfter is loose, cannot shif any tranny gears..

It sounds like your clutch is loose, if you do it yourself you will need to buy a new clutch assembly with might run you $200. If you take to a shop it might cost as much as $600. If you are going to do it yourself be sure to have a good Chiltons Auto Manual handy, they run about $20,

1997 Mazda Protege-Engine Light-Cylinder 2

I would change the following in this order if your are tight on money...if not you could have it done all at once.

1. Change Spark plugs (most likely cause of the misfire)
2. Change Spark plug wires
3. Change Rotor Button (this is inside the distributor cap)

All three are fairly easy processes. I would try this first before giving up on the engine. Hope this helps.

What type transmission does a 1994 mazada protege auto . F3A?

I'm seeing a lot of 1994 Mazda Protege problems so if you do replace it I would recommend a new trans and not a rebuilt or junk yard trans.
Most car repair shops use Jasper Transmissions most likely because they build them better than the original!

1997 MAZADA PROTEGE -REBULIT TRANSMISSION AROUND 2004

well you have a misfire on #2 cylinder (po302). possible bad coil or wire. hard to estimate cost without diagnosing first.po 705 is transmission range circuit. possible bad prndl switch or out of adjustment. Again would need further diagnosis to estimate.
