I have a 1995 nissan pickup with a ka24e. I just put a new timing chain and timing chain guides in it put it all back together now there is no oil pressure. the oil pump seems to be working just fine. i pulled it out poured oil in it and turned the shaft and it pumped the oil out. next i pulled the oil pan to see if the pick up was pluged, i just found broken pieces of the plastic chain guide in the bottom of the oil pan. im not sure what to do next. If u can help me that would be much appreciated.

ah the venerable napz motor extra coil extra plugs and a weak oiling system check oil filter bypass for coked stuck return spring...how many miles on motor? if crank bearings are failing no oil can get to top (warm metal things swell and make it less noticable)

SOURCE: Oil not circulating ? 1999 Nissan Altima DOHC,

Well, from the oil pump it goes into your oil filter so the lines going from the pump into the filter could be clogged. check that and see. Also on most imports I have found that they have to be primed after the oil pump has been replaced. Buy a oil pressure gauge and hook it up. Disconnect your fuel and spark delivery and then just crank over your motor to make sure you have good pressure. It takes up to 30 seconds to build on some cars. hope that helps.

the library may have what you need, but the best solution is to have a factory service manual for the vehicle you are working on. If he knows engines, these aren't any different. its self explanatory how it comes apart and back together. any machine shop will have any spec he needs. He will need specific measuring tools. if you are asking these kind of questions, its revealing that he does not have the tools to do that. He would be better off to take both engines to a machine shop and let them decide what is good or bad. There is nothing "free," you can either pay someone who knows what they are doing now, or later, small mistakes can be big bucks later.

Most definetly yes. It should run you around 500 dollars. If you timing belt breaks it will destroy your valves and head.

On my 97 nissan hardbody 2.4 ka24e eng with 258890miles on it got a new oil pump timing chain & head job the spring is red what color will increase the oil pressure

Nissan has fitted the spring to give the correct oil pressure to the crank and cam bearings, you can damage the white metal crank shaft bearings by increasing the oil pressure , fit the standard spring.

While replacing oil pan gasket, found a large amount of plastic pieces in the oil pan. now the engine is knocking.

The plastic pieces are your guide for your timing chain. This is a common problem on that year truck. I just replaced mine yesterday. Now today I get to mess with the distributor timing...how fun. I bought a ka24e timing chain kit from ebay $42.00 shipped. it comes with everything you need. An auto parts store wanted to charge me over $200.00 for the same type of kit. Well I'm sure this isn't really the news that you wanted to hear. Good luck, and I hope this helped.

Should you replace the timing chain in a 1995 2wd pickup and if so how often

timing chains in most cases never need be repalced for the life of the engine, timing belts on the other hand last about 60,000-100,000 miles.
