This problem is caused by a defective brake light switch, the switch is either out of adjustment (it is a threaded adjustment) or is defective, it is located under the dash and at the top of the arm the brake pedal is attached to. There will most likely be a plastic panel under the dash you will need to remove to see the switch. Here is a picture of the brake light switch.

Check the cable that connects the Gas pedal to the throttle plate in the intake manifold. Cable could be streched or breaking and not opening the throttle plate all the way.. another easy thing to look at is just past your air filter is the Mass Air meter.. open it up (take the large hose off) and clean it. there is special cleaner for this job.. its a spray available in any auto parts store. You replaced the CAT.. is there any other possible blockage in the exhust system.. this is a classic symptom of a blocked exhaust. To check this you would unbolt the front part of the cat and run with a open exhauset just to see if it corrects problem. Very loud but a last ditch choice. Check air filter?? I have seen rats nests in airfilters in the winter.. this usually causes the engine to smoke from too rich mixturee.. but the fuel inj systems are so smart now they might adapt to a blocked air filter and reduce the amount of fuel.= going slow.

Your problem seems to be a faulty solenoid. The solenoid is a little monster that lives on top of the starter motor, and its job is twofold. Firstly, it supplies full battery power to the starter motor, and secondly it drives a gear on the starter to engage with the engine flywheel. Now, your problem. The first guess could be the ignition switch, but fitting a toggle seems like a fairy tale answer. Check the starter solenoid to see if there is a frayed wire on the thin wire that connects to the starter, or possibly a frayed wire on the battery cable that is shorting to the small connector. Otherwise, I have seen the terminal of this small wire actually become loose and turn in the direction of the battery cable, which is also connected to the solenoid. A short here will cause the problem you are describing. Finally, the solenoid could have a short circuit inside the body, which means replace the solenoid.

I would start by checking the resistance of all of the injectors. I saw this happen last week, I had a new injector that was reading low ohms and it was making two cylinders misfire. Replace the new one with a another new one and both cylinder ran good. I dont know what the ohm value of your injectors should be but I would want at least 10 ohms, All of them will be about the same except the bad one..I did a web search on your problem and it was covered at several places.

Check the battery cables. If it is the braided type it may look good but not connecting like it should, Try connecting another earth cable from the battery negative to the same point as the original. Make sure that the contact area is clean and finally check every point where cables contact to. It is important to work on these points with the battery removed, in order to avoid short circuits.

Clean the battery post's and terminals and hot wires to starter and the ends of the ground wires. Try to jump start it if it starts it may be your battery or your starter is going bad.

Could be your clutch slave cylinder is bad,check your clutch fluid,if real low or empty then it is bad,it's located on the side of the transmission with a hydraulic hose connected to it,I have a 85 Nissan 720 4x4 5- speed,had to replace mine a few times.Here's a link on how to do. I just had a similar issue with my Colorado. It turned out to be the BCM(body control module). I don't think yours has one but the ECU might control the same systems. Check your fuses and if those are good look at your wiring diagram and what the common denominator is between those systems. My bet is it's the computer.

Sounds like your transmission is taking a dump. Buy new or rebuild the bad boy is my recommendation.

Does it turn over, or don't turn over at all? If it does turn over, then my guess would be the control module. Because, when the module gets hot, it will not start until it cools off. If it does not turn over, then I would have to say the starter is bad. I sincerely hope that this helps you. Best wishes.

Remove the 4 #2 Phillips screws that hold the black plastic surround to the dash. They are located at the 4 corners. Remove the 4 other #2 phillips screws from the surround of the cluster body, unplug the electricals and voila!

leave the cap off while it is idling, look in radiator for any air bubbles, if there is you have a leaking head gasket
