I have a 2001 ford focus. While cleaning out the engin compartment i found a mouse nest in the air conditioner intake under the windsheild. i cleaned it out, but now there is a smell that comes from the vents when the a/c is on. we reseached and found that it could be the evaporator, but we just dont know. We have done everything from cleaning out the vents themselvs, to spraying bleach-water into the a/c intake. What are our options to get rid of this nasty smell...

HI, you can check with your local parts supplier ( Napa, Advance, Auto Zone, ect). There are numerous products out that help get rid of the musty moldy smell that happens in the A/C systems. These products are sprayed into the evaporator cases either through a small opening or a drilled hole. If this doesn't help that wonderful little mouse may have found his way into the case and not made it out and then you will have to the case removed and cleaned out. good luck

Ticking ford focus

You need to be certain that the intake manifold is completely free of parts/remnants of the "old" valve seat that shattered. If you do not clean and blow out the intake manifold with compressed air before installing in on the new head, chunks of the old seat can and likely will find their way back into the combustion chamber.

Drain hole for air conditioner

Yes there is a drain at the bottom of the blower motor squirrel cage blower case, it drain out into the ground from a tube at the base of the firewall on the passenger side. I suggest you remove the blower and clean out the mouse nest or leaves that you will find are plugging up the drain.

A lot of of water under the front carpeting on the passenger side.

If you are sure its just (water) and not engine coolant, then it is likely a plugged air conditioner evaporator drain. Dirt and leaves can plug this fairly easily as they get through the cowl screen where fresh air enters the heat/air conditioner intake just below windsheild under the hood. the drain is on or under the bottom of the hvac box in engine compartment. Its black, about an inch around, nipple shaped, most of time you can remove ,clean, and reinstall with out too much trouble from underneath.

I'm guessing there should be a tube or pipe that goes to the valve cover. Is the hole about a 1/2 inch in diameter? If so that's the fresh air intake for your "crankcase ventilation system". That hole should not be left open because, dirt and dust can can go directly into the engine and crankcase. There should be a tube, they are usually plastic.
