Check to lambda sensors. I had the same issue and after changing almost ever sensor, I found the the heater in the left lambda sensor was open circuit
Hi this sounds like you have an air leak or a MAF sensor fault to me, what your vehicle is showing is signs of to much air into the system which is making it rev high and come down slowly, have you checked to see if any of the hoses have collapsed on the air system?, or even split around the air filter area leading to the engine, you could have a leaking inlet manifold gasket which is a classic thing with to much air into the system and rough idling, i definitely think you have an air problem...i would opt for the inlet manifold..thing to do is purchase a can of easy start, start up your engine, then spray a little bit in certain areas , if the rpm picks up and runs a little faster, not the area as this is where you will find your leak....hope this helps..please vote thanks
hi again, well that is strange as everything you say points to an air problem, umm, you could however have a fault with the MAF sensor, this is the item that reads airflow into the engine fuel and air mix manifold, if it is reading the airflow wrong, this could do it, that could be a thing to check..

Sorry but you have tried everything i would have done except that i would have checked the engine breather pipes for deterioation like perished or soft and collapsing .you would be surprised how often this is the main cause of this sort of problem
internet went down ,sorry for delay ,no check the engine breather pipe by looking at it spraying down the manifold will not find this sort of air leak ,now as for being able to read off the ECU then i think thats a dealer only job as the software used can be encrypted on later models but a 98 will not be encrypted ,but then it doesnt have an OBDII here in europe for this year ,and buying the sort of equipment needed is way out of my price range ,then it would only work up to about 2005 /2006 then its coded up here in europe ,cant even read the OBDII on later vehicles here ,just comes up cannot connect

Hi and thank for answer. I have done a check with easy start and there is no airleak. I am quite sure this is an eletrical problem due to the engine idle valve get an open signal from engine ECU as soon as I touching the throttle pedal or the vehicle starts to roll.
If I disconnect the Engine idle valve plug, the engine runs perfect as long as the eng. is warm or the air temp. is above 10 degree C when the eng. is cold. If its colder the engine idle rpm (below 500) is too low so it stopps as soon I select gear shift to D.
It was intermittant earlier but now it is a steady fault
It may be a wiring problem but I am not sure where to start to troubleshoot. Any suggestion???
The eng. ECU gets inputs from quite a lot of different systems so it isn´t easy.
The Cruise control stop working intermittant a few month´s before the Idle problem showed up. In the begining it was intermittant but now it is not working at all.
Can it be a connection???.

Check your throttle body throttle valve butterfly(s) and clean with carb cleaner being careful not to let the spray tube fly off and go into the throttle body, hold it with one hand while you spray. Use electrical contact cleaner to spray the mass airflow sensor clean and do not touch the elements with you fingers or anything else. Spray the ports under the idle air control valve. Disconnect the battery for an hour, reconnect and let it idle for 15 minutes so the computer re-learns the new throttle position sensor info.

I own two 2003 Honda Silverwings and am facing with two problems: A) One of them just lit the amber/yellow light with the "V" on it and the owner's manual says that I need to check with a dealer who doesn't exist on the island of Kauai - the odometer just turned 16,000 milesand this started at that mileage - could it be a simple reminder to change/check the belt and if so, how do I reset it?; B) My other Silverwing (with apx 8,000 miles has a tremendous vibration when starting especially uphill.
