Blower motor resistor overheats and fried connector to blower motor on 2001 Grand Caravan. Replaced resistor once new one fried connection. Saw review online that the resistor diode may be the culprit. Have same rely fuse and blower motor in van. Also, can this fry the blower motor and should I replace relay with resistor. Would appriciate any advice/help. Thanks

It could be the motor, but first i would check the wiring connector at the blower motor and the resistor. They could be melted. Turn it on and very gently wiggle the connector or wires near the connectors and see if that makes it come on.

Remove the glove box. It will have two connectors and two screws holding it in place remove the connectors and the screws, install the new one and you should be all set.

the answer to part 1 is sounds like you may have to replace the a/c control unit if the assembly is broken but before you do that first pull off the knob and check the back side to make sure it's not stripped or cracked. the answer to the second question is that it definatly sounds like the blower motor resistor, when replacing check the wires at the connector for evidence of burning, if burning is evident relplace wiring connector by splicing in new one. soldering wires together is the best connection otherwise use crimp-on **** connectors. if this was helpful please rate.

Replace the Blower Resistor. (About $12).

The resistor might be good; I have found that the terminals corrode, create resistance and sometimes melt the connector (About $100). Check the resistor before replacing it! If the connector gets fried, solder pigtails onto the good resistor and use Marr connectors to attach the pigtails to the existing wires,

Under the passenger side of the dashboard is a carpeted cover you'll need to remove. Once that's out of the way you'll see the blower motor on the RH side and just to the left of it right next to the frontwall is the blower motor resistor held in by two screws.

The Blower Motor Resistor is located behind the glove box on the dash. Remove the whole glove box to access. The Resistor is mounted against/sort of into the fire wall.
1. Disconnect the negative side of battery.
2. Disconnected the Electrical Connection to the Resistor.
3. Remove the bolts/screws. I believe they have 8mm heads, there should be 2 of them.
4. Replace with new one/Replug electrical connection.
5. Reconnect the negative side last.
6. Test System before putting the glove box back in!
The Blower Motor is easy (compared to $1000) to remove and replace.

These are to different problems . The blower is most likely the blower motor resistor. This is common problem the resistor gets hot and starts failing, it also starts to melt the resistors connector. The radiator cooling fans also have a problem with what is called a radiator fan relay.

in my 2004 grand caravan it's behind the glove box and left of the blower motor. disconnect the wires first then remove the 2 screws to pull out the resistor unit. First make sure you have removed the negative of your batterie. I had the same pm that prevented the blower motor to operate in any speed. I hope this will help

Try wiggling the connector on your Blower Motor Resistor. They are known for having a bad connection and melting the connector. Check on Ebay, I bought a new harness kit on there. It was easy to install, just cut off the old connector and splice in the new. The colors match so there is no guessing which wire goes where. Only cost me $12 and saved me $300+ that the dealer wanted.
