Not sure if you can interchange the manual & aut shafts, but you should check to see if there is excessive play where the shaft enters the gear box if so the diff bearings my be worn, if there is no play or noises from gear box when driving, remove the shaft again an try the seal on the shaft to check it's a proper fit, before fitting seals it is a good idea to leave them soaking in oil for a few hours prior to fitting

hope this helps

Jim

Skoda gear selector assembly manual gearbox 1998 felicia please show design and possible solution to oil leak from gear box end

Normally there is a seal of sorts here (it may be a felt seal or a rubber flap) but I find that if there is a problem here I check firstly the oil level in the gear box and the viscosity of the oil in the box Remove the filler plug (plug in the side of the box ) and drain until oil is level with the bottom of the threads. Best replace oil with a known viscosity oil for you gear box.

Oil leaking between gearbox and driveshaft

sounds like transmission rear seal. Any good shop can replace fairly inexpensively. Unless you have tools, just undo driveshaft at rear-end, yoke slides out of transmission. With a seal puller, pops out, tap in new one with mallard and reinstall driveshaft.

How to fix oil leak from top of a manual gearbox housing

sorry but its going to be a big job. you need to remove the gearbox to open up and get to the seals. you could try and use an additive in the gear box, its like oil seal for engine you can get it for engines gear boxes and difs and power steering. it sometimes goes by seek and seal, in older vehicles its quite good. you will need to replace the oil it will need to be done twice to clean it all out so it can get a good seal.. i.e change oil run engine get the gearbox to move for 20 min then change the oil as its warm not hot so let it cool down for 10-20 min then drain. put the seek and seal in and top up with oil and run as normal, check after a few days to see if its worked. usual does.

My 1995 Geo Metro 1.3 L leaks a lot of transmission oil. What is the problem?

Faulty oil seal, simple as that, where it is will be for a garage to find.

There are three main oil seals, one each side of the gearbox (CV driveshaft seals) and the other which requires gearbox removal is the torque converter to gearbox oil seal. Hope its not that one!!

PS = I trust the gearbox level is correct and NOT overfilled as this will also happen,. Has anyone recently topped up trans and spilled fluid??

Leaking gearbox toyota hilux 4wd can,t find out from where or what may have caused it

Check if the filler and drain plug is tightened, aswell as the reverse and 4wd(light indicator) switches on the gearbox is not leaking through the section where the wiring enters the switch, check the tail end of the g/box rhere the the drive/prop. shaft enters the g/box, a oil seal is located there and on the transfer case driveshaft driving the front wheels.

Oil leaking from crack in houseing attached to back end of gearbo

If you can see the crack plainly, you will need to have a transmission shop fix it for you or your isuzu dealer, good luck.
but it may have just the rear seal on the transmission started leaking, and where the castings come together, looks like a crack, and just replace the seal.
good luck;)
