I have 1999 Porsche 996 3.4l engine. Can you mix coolant

I have 1999 Porsche 996 3.4l engine. Can you mix the original factory fill ''lifetime'' coolant (pale green in color), with the new coolant I just bought from Porsche dealer (orange/reddish in color). Some say yes, some say no. What is the truth here??? Thanks.

Hi! Yes you can mix them up... they are both coolant anyways. But the best thing to do is flush the fluid till its clear then put in the new coolant. Hope this helps and have a good one!

CAUTION: Do not mix Standard (green) Coolant with Extended Life Coolant (orange). If mixing occurs, drain engine cooling system and refill with originally equipped coolant type. If this contamination occurs the service change interval on Extended Life Coolant will be reduced from 6 years/150,000 miles to 3 years/30,000 miles.

My van motor just broke, i had just filled it up with gas, how can i get gas out of it

Remove all plugd and disable coil pack (for safety) and crank engine.

The pistons on all cyc. will push all gas + coolant out of the engine.

Please use towel /newspaper to protect the engine bay and floor before cracking the engine.
The oil/gas/coolant mix will make the floor.

Can the green antifreeze be used in a 2002Volkswagon Passat instead of red fluid. 1.8 liter engine

I wouldn't attempt that. Stick with the fluid that the manufacturer recommends many problems can occur if you put the wrong coolant into the system.

My truck is not warming up as fast when the heater is on and it takes a while for my temp. gauge to move

Time to replace the Thermostat and Radiator Cap, if the cooling system has not been serviced, you may want to replace the coolant with a 50/50 mix water/antifreeze. Make sure it's 50/50, to much antifreeze will gel up and to much water will freeze or boil over. If your not sure how to mix the antifreeze, you can buy the pre mixed.
