SOURCE: Might have transmission fluid leak????

its fairly easy to be honest.you only need the tool to check transmision temp.it should be checked at a temp of 40 degrees c.so i reckon 10-15 mins from cold on idle(dont drive it ) should be about right.then remove the plug in the sump.this exposes a tube that goes in to the sump that is the right length so that only excess oil will drain out.Bassicaly the tube allows the sump to drain until the correct ammount of oil is in there.if you need to top up there is a short tube with a red cover over the top of it.remove this and top up until oil drains out the sump from the hole where the sump plug goes.go here for a picture that explains all.......

SOURCE: When and How to check transmission fluid

if it is a manual transmission you have to check it from under the car by opening the fill plug. if fluid starts flowing out your full if not than you need to service it.

if it is an automatic it will be close to the firewall and hard to spot. but it is there. if you have 45,000 miles on it you should have the transmission serviced whether it is an automatic or manual.

SOURCE: Transmission fluid type and level

This is complicated.... Ok, your right, no dip stick is there! This is how it works.
Underneath the car, there is a plug (11mm) on the transmission case on the passenger side. It is about 3" up from the pan edge and on the front side of the case. With the engine running in PARK, remove this plug. If trans fuild doesn't run out of the hole, the level is low. Pour it in the hole on top (where the red cap is) until the fluid runs out - all while the car is running. Once it is roughly dribbling out, the trans is considered full. replace plug. Your done!!
Easy ehh? Dexron III fluid

Use a funnel and pour in the fluid into the transmission dip stick tube. Do it slowly so you don't overfill.

My tranny slips some times but it will catch after a few min

SOUND LIKE TRANSMISSION FLUID LOW OR YOU NEED A TRANSMISSION FLUID AND FILTER CHANGE.THE 4T40E OR 4T45E IF YOU DONT SEE TRANSMISSION DIP STICK.BEST TO DO A FILTER AND FLUID CHANGE.YOU NEED 7 QUARTS OF TRANSMISSION FLUID A NEW TRANSMISSION FILTER AND PAN GASKET.I WOULD BUY FILTER AND PAN GASKET AT DEALERSHIP.YOU NEED A LARGE DRAIN PAN TO CATCH TRANSMISSION FLUID.IF YOU HAVE A TRANSMISSION DIP STICK. BEFORE YOU FIRST BEFORE STARTING THE ENGINE CHECK TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL ON DIP STICK.SHOULD BE ON THE FULL MARK.IF NOT ADD FLUID TO FULL MARK.THEN CRANK VECHICLE LET IDLE UNTIL ENGINE HOT OPERATION TEMPERATURE ABOUT 10 MINUTES.THEN APPLY BRAKE PEDAL.THEN SLOWLY SHIFT TRANSMISSION SHIFTER THROUGH ALL GEARS 2 TIMES.THEN PUT TRANSMISSION IN PARK.CHECK TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL.IF NOT AT FULL MARK ADD TRANSMISSION FLUID UNTIL LEVEL CORRECT.

How do you check a 2004 alero transmission fluid

2004 Aleros with auto trans DO NOT have a dipstick under the hood. They do have a filler cap, located on the driver side, look straight down under the edge of the exhaust crossover, black cap with a gear on it. According to the Manuf. the AUTOMATIC Transmission (should not need to be checked unless there is a leak) has a plug in the side just like the manual transmission. You remove the plug in the side and fill thru the top until fluid runs out the side hole. Replace the plug and the fill cap when done.

Where is the transmission dip stick for 2002 alero

As was mentioned, there isn't one. There is a small bolt on the side of the transmission pan (facing the front of the car) that is pulled and checked by the service mechanic. If a few drops of tranny fluid are released when the bolt is pulled, there is adequate fluid in the transmission.
