For 2009 Nissan Versa SL: Need to Disable Dashboard Lights

For 2009 Nissan Versa SL:

By design, the dashboard lights come on when the headlight switch is in the OFF position. Hence, I frequently find myself driving at night without the headlights on (since I am fooled by the dashboard lights being on). There is a dashboard dimmer switch, but it only has any effect when the headlight switch is turned to the PARKING LIGHTS or HEADLIGHTS position.

Can someone please provide step-by-step instructions for disabling the dashboard lights from coming on when the headlight switch is in the OFF position?

Thank you!

There may be a seperate fuse for that feature. The thing to try is find the fuse box. It is generally under the left hand side of the dash on thedriverside butthey have been known in some vehicles to be on the right hand side under the dash and even inside the glove compartment. There are some models that setup the fuse box under the hood as well. If you have an operating manual with your vehicle then the fuse box will be located in there.
Once you find the fuse box then try thist rick.
Locate instrument panel fuse. In this case there should be two with instrument panel listed but if not then it may be all in one fuse. What I woulddo is just turn thekey on so the lights you want off are shinning on so you can see them. Then one by one pull a fuse. If thelight stays on then replace the fuse back in the same spot you took it out of, Continue doing this one fuse at a time and replacing it back in the same spot until the dash lights go out. Then see what the fuse box says about that certain fuse and what all it operates. It may be that you can not disable the dash lights this way without disabling something else you need such as a blinker or heater or radio, but what I am hoping is it has its own seperate fuse. If you arenot sure what it operates by what it says onthe fuse box then once the fuse is out start the car and check all of your other lights including brake lights and blinkers and of course thedash lights that work when your head lights are on. Check all of yourother switch operated devices like the radio and windsheild wipers and heater. Anything that has a switch you can test. Remeber that you may have pulled the fuse that operates the dashlights but there still may be another fuse that operates the dashlights you want disabled, so if the fuse you puilled disabled stuff youneed then replace thefuse and keep pulling more until the dashlights go out again or you run out of fuses to pull. Remeber to turn the headlights back off while you arepulling more fuses. I hope this was helpful, Raz

Testimonial: "That's a great approach. However, my Versa has a minimal number of multi-purpose fuses - none of which refer to the dash cluster. Thanks, anyways!"

2002 Nissan Quest 3.3L interior lights won’t turn off. Dashboard light indicates all doors are open. Already checked each door switch not stuck or broken. Pressed headlight button through driver window to...

The door switch is located inside of the door latch. You probably have a bad switch and need to have the latch changed. Since the drivers door gets the most use, that is a good place to start.

Blue flashing light on dashboard on a 2007 versa nissan . And vehicle shakes at times .. what is this indication?

I'll need more information for this. Where exactly on the dashboard is this light? Is it next to a dashboard button? Is it a simple light on the display behind the steering wheel? Is it on the main information screen Does it look like a picture of something?
Blue usually means something is turned on that is normally off or only used occasionally like the high beam switch for your headlights.
As to the shaking, when exactly does it do it? Accelerating? Braking? Turning tight corners? Changing gears? More information please.
