I have a 2008 pt cruiser. The engine light is on

I have a 2008 pt cruiser. The engine light is on and Auto Zone did the test and said it was the crankshaft sensor. Where is this located? Would this cause my car to shake alot and then have problems starting.

My PT cruiser is a couple of years older, but I had the same problem. Drove fine, but start-up was erratic for several weeks. By the time  AAA arrived, it usually was working fine. But when it suddenly  started "struggling for power on the freeway and further along on the same trip, lurching (on a city avenue) I drove straight to my mechanic. It WAS the same sensor . . . and car has been driving perfectly ever since he changed it.

Yes it could cause this. The Auto Zone guys should be able to print you instructions for changing it. Did they check, or even offer to check? I do at MY AZ. Check near the crank pulley and see if it is there.

mcdevito75 here, Yes a crankshaft sensor could cause your mentioned problems, the sensor should be located near the Harmonic balancer, you may need a special tool to remove it and if I'm not mistaken the new sensor thakes an adjustment, Have auto zone change this sensor for you, even if you succeed, how often will you change this sensor.

On a 2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser, why is no fuel getting through to start the car?

Bad filter, no injector pulse (use noid light to check this), bad fuel pressure regulator (test pressure key on engine off).

My 2006 PT Cruiser is showing a yellow warning light that looks like a engine part. What does it mean? It just came on today

sounds like the computer has picked up a problem within the system, have someone, or yourself hook up a obd 2 code tester retrieving tool , to the aldl, under the instrument panel, on the left side of the steering columb, in order to find out what the code problem is, then you can check that area out for the problem, " also, auto zone will hook this tester up for free.

Pt cruiser engine light came on what is wrong? The light is orange and shaped like a little engine. Do i need to just change the oil?

This light tells you that the engine or transmission needs attention. It's not going to blow up if you keep driving it for a little while, if it's still running (red lights, like oil pressure, mean to stop RIGHT NOW).

Just changing the oil is probably not going to make the light go out. The light was turned on by the engine's computer, and indicates that the computer got a bad reading from one (or more) sensors located throughout the engine and transmission. Most auto parts stores can hook up a code reader to your car and read the trouble code stored by your computer. The trouble code indicates what system is not working properly and that may tell you what to replace to fix it. Or it may require more in-depth testing to determine the exact problem.

Check engine light goes on for a few days and then resets itself

Sounds like a re-occuring temporary code....take it back to the dealer or Auto Zone and have the code scanned within your 6 start reset limit
